I will be a fan either way, some of the deals he tried may look sweeter depending on that pick.  Of course, it could look worse.  I do not see a scenario where we keep them all.

If DA cant pull off the big trade that this team needs on draft day I expect him to hold to form with his drafting style. Nets pick will be BPA and then target a player in a trade up using the 2 first and 2 early seconds. Any picks left after that will be draft and stash domestic or foreign.

example using DX current mock

#4      Draft Bender (stays in europe 1-2 years)
#21    Trade up to #18 using #21+#31+ Young (if needed Draft Valentine
#23    Draft Nigel Hayes
#31    Traded to move up
#35     Draft Onuaku

late 2nds I like Georges Niang, Ron Baker as players to draft and try to get into Marcus Thortons draft and stash.

In the end trading for a star is the goal but coming out of the draft with Bender stashed in Europe. Valentine and Hayes coming in primed to fight for minutes and Onuaku developing in Maine seems like a great outcome.

this draft isn't particularly strong so it shouldn't take #21 and #31 and Young just to move to #18.  I think #21 and #35 would suffice.  If this were a stronger draft where 3 slots that far down would make that much difference in the quality of players available, you might need to use #31 instead of #35.

If Danny did use those 3 assets to move up as you propose, he better get a lot higher than #18.

Chicago is set to go into a rebuild mode. I can see DA doing a trade for Butler that would expidited the rebuild in Chicago. Like Young, Hunter, Brk, Dal, and Bos pick for Butler

Butler is the perfect fit ...CBS type player ....all Hustle

Paul George would fit nice too.

The Celtics will have 5 valuable picks in the draft. I don't want to see more than 2 or 3 rookies on the roster next year. So if they can't trade any of their picks, I want to see them select 2 or 3 draft and stash foreign players.

I will be very surprised if we don't make a trade on draft night though.

CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I'd love to see Butler on the Celtics, next to his old college teammate Crowder. He would fit in perfectly with this team.

That's not enough for Chicago to move him though. I think they would want Smart, Bradley or a future Brooklyn pick in addition to what you suggested.

Then I'd hope he just continues to be patient.

The team - as is - is growing and getting better. Sully is playing well at center. Marcus is improving. We have an All-Star at PG. AB is playing well. Great production from ET and bench.

While I'd love another star (or two) I don't expect Danny to make any panic moves.

Just stay the course.

I've read somewhere that Danny had his eye on KG for several years before a window of opportunity opened to grab him. Sometimes it takes "that long."

We have good salaries on the books, a good to very good team, great chemistry, great coaching. Don't need ANY panic moves.

I agree. They def want a mix of players and the high 1st picks

Danny won't give up smart for him. Nor his fav AB

The Bulls are def stuck.  They don't have the picks (or pick in late teens). , gasol is on his way out, rose is iffy.  Youth movement is weak

We might be able to grab Butler for the Nets, mavs 1st , 2nds + jerebko, amir

Not really. Butler is a sf/sg

His numbers are better at SG when he can use his size to score on smaller defenders. I'd also much rather move Bradley than Crowder, so I'd prefer Butler as an SG.

You don't have to move neither

Don't forget CBS love for playing small ball late in games too. It can all workout

I still don't see Chicago doing the deal unless we give them at least one of Smart, Crowder, Bradley, the 2017 Celtics pick or the 2018 Nets pick. Even then I bet it would probably take Bradley and one of those extra picks (in addition to two picks this year).

The Bulls don't have a reason to move him unless they are overwhelmed. He is young and under contract for a long time. I don't think your offer would be enough or he would already be on the Celtics.

Yup, it's always important to remember these trades don't happen in a "what is the guy actually worth" vacuum. It's "approximately what is he worth" + "how desperate is the seller" + "who else is buying" + "does the player actually want to go there".

Some teams can offer prospects, or quality draft choices, or a high volume of draft choices, or good contracts. Seems to me the C's can offer more of those than most - if not all - other teams, whether or not the Brooklyn pick lands at 1, 2, or 5.
