Late Bird era Celtics question

Who was the (I think mid-season) veteran pick up that really helped Boston beat the Pacers in the playoffs by roughing up Chuck Pearson. I want to say it was the X-man, but I don't think that is right.

I remember the guy as being a forward, who just mugged Chuck to the point of distraction.
I remember at the time thinking it turned a game (maybe even the series) in the Celtics favor.

I could look it up, but then I would be denied the recollections of my Celtic brethren.

So I remember Eddie Pinckney being a bit of an enforcer on those teams. He wasn't a late season pickup though.

He basically rehabbed for the entire year that we had him and finally played in the playoffs and had some great defensive contributions.  I think he died a few years ago, if I'm not mistaken.

I recently rewatched that 1991 playoff game against the Pacers.  This is the game that Larry Bird bounced his coconut off of the parquet floor.

I got really sad watching Derek Smith and Reggie Lewis play, knowing they would both die as young men.
