If you are looking at their contracts, yes absolutely.

I also love Irving's talent but he has had trouble staying healthy and his defense just isn't there.

IT has been great though.  I have been very happy with him.  Yes if he is the one guy out there against a team like Cleveland on D he can't get it done alone.  I think he can with enough talent around him.  He can be a key part of a great team and with his current contract that's only more helpful.

It's Kyle Lowry, at the moment.

I would have to say yes based not only on contract but Kyrie is SOFT!

Well one of them plays every single night, and the other can't stay on the floor. All in all, give me Isaiah, although he doesn't have the size and isn't as gifted.

Nope. Kyrie is 5 to 6 inches taller than IT with a similar skillset.

Right, so, IT would have to be better than Kyrie in SOME sense if he manages similar production to Kyrie offensively and defensively despite giving up 6 inches in height and length.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Hard to tell at this point. Think that Kyrie is a better player but he's not a fighter like IT. He missed almost entire game against OKC because of bugs in his hotel room!? If I go to war I'm taking IT with me.

Man, Kyrie is arguably the second most talented basketball player in the NBA. Who is better at creating their own shot? Also, his finishes at the rim, especially for his size, are insane... he's like IT on steroids, in that respect. Problem is he's literally never healthy. That's the downfall of CLE in this window they have right now (that, and GS).

I strongly disagree that he's the second most talented, but he does have some impressive talents. His handle is second to none, he's versatile as he can play both on and off ball, he's fantastic at the rim, and he has elite size and athleticism. Despite all these traits though, he struggles to put up superior numbers to a 5'9" afterthought. Don't you find that a little disappointing?

I prefer IT more simply because of his contract. ..but if we are going to keep it real,
I doubt IT would be putting up 19 points 4 assists with Lebron and Kevin Love on this team

I don't see why he wouldn't? IT gets his points within the offense and Kyrie depends highly on iso situations (the difference here is pretty staggering, IMO). The former tends to translate better with increased talent. The latter tends to struggle more because he typically wouldn't get as many touches. Kyrie is a great shooter, but he struggles playing within an offense and off
the ball. This is one of IT's strengths. Most of his shots are created with limited touch time unlike Irving.

I'm surprised by this
As before I saw the comparison made by ball breakdown

Their game is similar
But Kyrie has the edge because of potential from his size

Thomas size limits his ceiling
As hell always be bullied by some bigger PG or on switches
And he will always have the size disadvantage
Although Thomas works harder on defense which makes Thomas a better defender than Kyrie

I also think Kyrie is a better ball handler and better at creating his own shot

But Thomas is a better team player as he accepted being part of the bench even though he knew he was the best pg and should have been starting
As well as passer as Kyrie generally looks for his shot most of the time

If you say so.

The homerism in this thread is reaching dangerous new heights.  We got a chance to watch them play against each other last year in the playoffs and it wasn't even a question.

IT is gonna get shut down in the playoffs again--He's great, but he's a regular season player.
Which is pretty much our entire team.

This narrative annoys me so much. Just seems that all the haters have flipped from "Celtics suck they can't win" to "Celtics can win in the regular season but it doesn't count for anything". Just like how IT slipped to 60th in the draft because nobody thought he was good, and now he's our best player but people are still going to say that he's a "regular season player". Here's the deal: you don't need to be 6 feet tall to be a good player, and you don't need a superstar to be a good team.

Their whole defense was predicted on stopping IT.

Just for reference as far as salary, IT makes less than half of what Kyrie makes.
