KG looks taller than brook in this pic, and brook Is 7'2 while KG is listed at 6,11 but its commonly known KG doesn't like to be called a 7 footer.

He is like 7'2 and 3/4 or 7'3 in shoes.

1. Brook is not 7'2"
2. KG is widely considered to be 7', having grown since he entered the league at age 18.

I initially thought Shumpert, LeBron and JR Smith was good enough. But JJ gives them that extra lineup flexibility against GSW. Shame to lose minutes to quality big men like K-Love, T.Thompson or T.Mosgov though.

They can only afford to play one of those guys at a time versus Golden State anyway.

Adding Joe would allow them to trot out a lineup like Irving - Shumpert - Joe - Bron - Thompson/Love, which could be tough to handle.

Similarly, if Joe went to OKC, they could trot out a lineup like Westbrook - Waiters/Payne - Joe - Durant - Ibaka.

Joe would get absolutely shredded by any of the Warriors small fowards or guards and would be a complete liability for them. He could maybe help against other matchups, but warriors, no.

Can anyone explain why Danny couldn't have made this easier

To nets:  Lee, Jerebko, 2nd round pick
To celtics: Johnson

there is almost a nil chance Johnson comes here now

No reason to give up any sort of marginal asset (Jerebko contract, 2nd rounder) for Joe Johnson.

If he were playing on the wing, I'm willing to believe Iggy could give him a hard time, but I think Joe could handle Barnes just fine.

Anyway, especially for OKC, he'd be much better than, say, Morrow or Singler, and that's the point.  Right now, OKC can't contemplate a 5 man unit with Durant at the 4 because they just don't have anybody else they can afford to give significant minutes to at the 3.

just make sense of what you said. Marginal likely non impact assets (as much as like Jerebko, he is easily expandable)

and Johnson is the type of guy that can help you get past the 1st round at least

Jerebko's contract is a useful trade chip. Would rather not burn it on a guy who has zero future with the team.

Pretty simple. Johnson is owed a lot of money, is non-athletic at this stage of his career, is a iso ball hog, and doesn't help you in the long run. No point is giving up any assets for him, IMO.

He'd probably end up doing more harm than good for this team.   Giving up assets for him?  No thanks.

And this team already has an excellent chance of getting out of the first round without JJ.  They don't need him for that.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
It's official and he's been bought out.
Can OP change thread title?

I actually think Johnson showed a commendable willingness to pass more this year.  I think he would help our team, but it's not a priority for me and I'd rather just roll with what we have.

Anyways, I bet he goes to Cleveland where he will help them add another shooter who can do a couple of other things well in a limited role.

It would be awesome if the Suns beat them next game. I haven't looked at schedule but that might be today.
Perfect timing.

Joe Johnson would be okay taking over the minutes of James Young and RJ Hunter in the playoffs.
