There are a lot of bigs availible this summer, lets disscuss who we could get. The draft and and trades around it will shape the direction we go. But, we can safely assume we want at lease one big that is better than what we have now. How desirable a location we end up being will be determined by how we finish the season, the lotto and maybe trades . But lets take s list at guys who could help.

Durrant
Howard
Horford
Pao
Whiteside
Big al
Zaza
Noah

If we got one of those 8 and drafted bpa it would be a very solid step forward. We can match anything sully snd zeller get if we still want them .and ifvwe wantvto get 2 or 3 of them we could free up the money to do it.

Horford as a big, and KD as a scorer would be fantastic...

depends on what it takes to sign them.

I like Horford in that bunch both in terms of possibility of leaving their current team, leadership, skillset and possibility of getting them for less than their max money.

would obviously love to get Durant but I think anyone hoping to pry him away from OKC at this point is going to be deeply disappointed.

Durrant -- Unlikely..rather impossible
Howard -- NO!
Horford -- Yes
Pao -- Eh...worried he'd get injured...which you can say of any player. I'd rather have traded for him already.
Whiteside -- NO!
Big al -- Might as well for for Okafor via trade instead, don't see a difference in the two besides age.
Zaza -- Feel like this year is an aberration, Dallas got lucky, not sure we would.
Noah -- For super cheap, yes.

Long-form is far from dead, but please refrain from paragraph-laden posts! Who wants to read that?!

It's not so much about getting the right amount of millions as it is geting the right amount of years. The next 2 years don't really matter. It's after that. Howard for 2 or 3 years at big money is ok. If you do that overpaying for a year or two of pau is alright.

I'd be OK with adding Howard gasol and developing the pick amd other your husband whilst bright a dark horse contender

Gasol could be great as a follow-up move. Say we trade the pick for a star on draft day.

Yes, on Horford, he'd fit in perfectly with this team and it's philosophy. He can be effective at center or PF.
Good NBA citizen too.

Whiteside is a question mark, his attitude isn't great, although he is very effective as an old school type center, and he's young.

Pao is too old.

Noah, would be nice for the right price, and would fit in well. Health is a question with him.

I'd be down for Noah on a cheap contract, maybe in Amir's place if he was really healthy.

Howard is a no, because I wouldn't give him the kind of money he can get without knowing if he could really make a large positive impact on this team, and since Houston wanted to much for him in a trade we couldn't know that without giving a possibly foolish high cost commitment.

I'd love Horford on a 2/45M$ or 3/65M$ kind of deals. His game fits this team well and his game should age gracefully, but I wouldn't want to give him a full 4 year max.

Pau is just too old for me. Unless something happens that makes this team a championship contender over the summer, I probably wouldn't be interested.

I want NO part of Whiteside. Just too many headaches for a guy who isn't very good on offense, can't pass AT ALL (a necessary skill for most of our bigs) and is a severely over-rated defender. The block totals are amazing, but he's a poor positional and team defender, while also being a guy who wastes blocks by not keeping them in play. Not worth near what he'll get on the open market.

Big Al is a no for me, too old, too slow and too isolation dependent.

ZaZa is an interesting one. He's like 30 now right? He'd fit right into Amir's role. He's good at all the small things like setting screens and offensive rebounds.

And while I think Durant is unlikely, I wouldn't say it's impossible. If he does leave OKC, I'd say we have almost as good a chance as anyone else. This team is a KD away from being a top-flight contender in the East and would immediately have a great chance at reaching the finals for the next 3-4 years, plus we'd still have a huge pool of assets to use (including all the BRK picks) to continue to improve the team. With our rising young team, well liked All-Star PG and one of the leagues brightest young coaches and best FO groups, on top of the assets and additional cap space, I think it would be silly to count us out of that just yet, especially if we manage to make an ECF run.

No FAs I want other than Hordford and even then my max would be 16 million per year for 4 years.
I wouldnt mind resigning Zeller and the just drafting bigs. There are a boat load this draft Zimmer, Brimah, Onuaku, Poeltl, Hammon, Stone the list goes on.

okay, you wouldn't do it, that is your opinion, but have you seen the deals done this off season, ex. Kanter, Johnson etc.
Imagine us getting Horford and Durrant...that is a 5-6 years championship window
what doesn't kill you makes you stronger

I'd say the top FA target should be Horford.  Try to get him for 3 years at max money.

Aside from that, the Celts should see if they can add a couple guys like Dudley and Casspi.  Really need some experienced size and shooting on the bench.

Combine that with a move on draft day to combine picks and some of the younger players to add a star prospect or trade for a more established player, and the Celts could be ready to make some noise next year.

I'd stay away from Noah (can't trust his health), Pau (too old), Whiteside (don't trust him, period), and Howard (not a good fit off-court).
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.
