If we end up drafting fourth I think this is a great outcome, but I'm hoping to draft higher than that so at this point those picks wouldn't make me happy.

If we are picking fourth if probably prefer a trade than picking Brown but would be fine with Jaylen as a fall back option. I would also prefer packaging picks to move up like a writer suggested here http://www.thebirdwrites.com/2016/2/23/11081096/2016-nba-draft-new-orleans-pelicans-trade-back-options-ben-simmons-buddy-hield-denzel-valentine

I also might prefer a stash to Jones or Valentine.

I love that trade, but I don't think NO does. This may be a weak draft, but you're still trading #7 for 17 and 22, as it stands now. If that happened, we'd be getting #5 and #7 (as things stand now).

A lot of people have mentioned the biggest "problem" we have: We have eight draft picks, including three first-rounders and either the first or second pick in the second round. How the heck is Ainge going to get value out of all those picks? It's not like the other GMs don't know that Ainge has to get rid of some. That's why I think Ainge floated the "big trade" rumor after the trade deadline; he has to do something to put a bid under those picks.

My biggest hope for draft night is somebody gets a jonesing for some player who has slid, either to 5 or to the Dallas pick, and is willing to overpay to get them. I'd happily roll forward one of our picks to 2017.

Mike
Yeah I think it might be a little low on NO's side as well. I would 100% be willing to add mulitple seconds to that package and include Amir Johnson or Jerebko.

We would actually have 4 and 7 as it stands now, not 5.

My hope is that a team who doesn't have a first is willing to trade us their 2017 pick for our pick or Dallas'.

At 7 getting Heild would be a godsend, he would absolutely fill it up in our system.

May be 4 or 5. I just used 5 because it is the single-most likely outcome for the fourth-worst team. This could get ugly. Looks like there is only a 10% chance that the 4th seed actually gets the 4th pick, and a 50%+ chance that we get 5 or 6. Ugh. I'm using these numbers:

I'd happily take Hield at 7 and would love it if somebody were to surrender their 2017 pick for our Dallas pick.

Mike

What do you see Ellenson doing at the next level?

Do you like Luwawu as a draft and stash or do you think he will come over right away?
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Good thing that guy isn't the NO GM.  7 for 17 and 23 would be a great deal for the Celtics.  I'd throw in a few 2nd round picks too.

Funny the way the odds work out.  If we're the 4th seed, the 4th pick is the least likely outcome except for 7th.

What do you see Ellenson doing at the next level?

Do you like Luwawu as a draft and stash or do you think he will come over right away?

Big things.  He is like a Sullinger but taller, longer. Better shooter/ able to execute hook shots  .  could be a better rebounder though

Yeah luwawu would be a project exactly like batum was at 1st

Top level athlete. 6'7 with 7'2 wingspan. Above the rim/Dunk in your face on any NBA center capability

Only things not to like about Ellenson is below average quickness and a bad shooting % for a 6'10" power forward .435%fg .279%3p

Ellenson looks to have good mechanics, since he's very young I expect him to turn those good mechanics into good shooting numbers as he gets older.

I'd be very meh with that outcome.

I think Bender, Labissiere/Luwawu, Valentine/Qi, LeVert, Zipser would be a nice haul.

Depending who you get with the DAL or BOS pick you have multiple players who can be stashed. LeVert and Zipser would be really solid second round picks. Let LeVert heal and Zipser play overseas.

I see a bit of Dirk Nowitzki in this video highlight of Ellenson.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tUGeYadEoC4

Has great length. Has that body control where he jerks his body and shoulders to square up like Dirk. Even some of his post ups look like Dirk. Obviously needs to shoot better tho.

Maybe this guy ends up being legit.

I keep going back and forth on Brown.

Physically, and the way he drives, reminds me of guys like Harden and Wade.

On the other hand, he looks like a single-minded and relatively predictable driver who rarely makes plays for others and has little evidence of a reliable jumpshot.  I'm honestly not sure what his resume is defensively, as highlights never show work on defense, especially team defense, which is what matters most.

Typically, guys like that have to be phenomenally talented to turn out better than, say, Dion Waiters.

http://upsidemotor.com/2016/01/11/jaylen-brown-scouting-report-2016-nba-draft-ben-simmons-brandon-ingram/

Reading this excellent scouting report, updated in January, makes me cautious about Jaylen Brown.

It really sounds to me like he could be a 6'7'' Marcus Smart without the defensive instincts or the streaky but occasionally hot outside shooting.

He's much quicker with the ball and can score at the rim. Both things that Smart struggles with.

Smart is probably ahead of Brown as far as shooting form. That's the scary part.
