I really thought Lee would show more game.  I still think he has the ability to put up numbers and we shouldn't be shocked if he starts averaging decent stats on a losing team, but he clearly was a poor fit in this system.

This. Good luck Dave!
unless he signs with the nets.

I guess it makes sense for him to back up Dirk. I'm all for this.

It doesn't speak well of Brad Stevens that he was able to get so little out of our best player.   ;)

Not sure that is a fair assessment. He just doesn't have the motor to play defense. That was obvious from his first game. And, on offense you can't expect to change a player's game when he's been successful at it for a lifetime.
Most importantly he cheered the team on even when not playing. He's got a great heart. Wish more players had his positive attitude. I wish him well wherever he goes.

I was just poking a little fun - LarBrd had a thing about calling Lee our best player during the offseason.

Father time has caught up to him or started.   His shots fall short, he gets blocked and he lacks lift.  I doubt changing teams will help this much...

I had high hopes for him too -- I thought 15 and 8 wasn't out of the question, even if he didn't play any defense. But he turned out completely useless.

I don't even think Lee has lost that much he just doesn't fit the Celtics' schemes or what the NBA has turned into. Teams value spacing and defense now more than ever. Lee was not good at either of those things to begin with. It's not that Lee played horribly every time he played. He had a few good games for the Celtics (Off the top of my head, the Lakers, Warriors, and Mavericks games he was pretty good), but the team usually played worse when he was on the court whether or not he was on his game.

The guy was a disappointment and I'm glad he's off the team, but I wish him all the best wherever he goes. He's a great professional. Good luck D-Lee!

judging by how much of a fan their coach is of "floor spacing", Lee would probably hurt their efficiency as well.

I was also expecting much much better out of him when I heard of the trade to bring him to Boston.

Attitude and effort were ok.  After preseason he was abysmal .

Wish him well

At last the Wallace Nets shackle is finally over ......wow seemed like forever....LOL

Got a little annoyed when he started griping about playing time mid season but other than that I think he remained pretty professional.

Getting stuck in fat contract limbo (make too much for bad teams to trade for you, stuck behind other guys in the rotation on your good team) isn't always the players fault. In some other situations that weren't GS he probably would have settled into a 20 minutes a night reliable veteran. The GS situation killed his value.

Might be worth a game or 2 but but ya'd rather have him there then on the Nets.

Agree.

His Per 36 numbers suggests he's still withing the ballpark of what he can do offensively, just could not contribute on defense and just doesn't fit to what the Celtics are trying to do.

Wish him luck, as I'm such a fan of his, especially during his Bay Area days, but I'm sort of disappointed that he disappointed.

I have a hard time believing that David Lee's addition to any team is going to mean any extra wins for that team. I think he's done having a net positive impact on teams given the way the game is played nowadays and the decline in Lee's game.

Also, why won't the Raptors go for David Lee? They need a PF upgrade, right?

He might not be that much of and upgrade, but who knows...
