I bet Danny Ainge never loses a staring contest.

I don't think it's a staring contest. I don't think he wants any of those two guys unless the price is right.

I bet Danny Ainge never loses a staring contest.

One time, Danny Ainge got into a staring contest with Chuck Norris, and Chuck Norris traded his ability to roundhouse kick for a pack of gum and a future protected 2nd rounder.

I don't think it's a staring contest. I don't think he wants any of those two guys unless the price is right.

So he waits another 4-5 hours and see if they blink.  If they don't, so be it.  Ainge will still have plenty of ammo heading into the summer.

Teams like the Hawks & Rockets have a heckuva lot more to lose today if they remain inactive than the Celtics.

What's the difference? He won't blink unless the price is right.

Precisely. At 2:30pm, if nothing happens: Ainge calls Portland and dumps Lee for a pick, then waits until summer.

BUT, I would like him to pick up a McLemore or Belinelli from SAC along the way today.

Good.  This is a no brainer to me.  Why give up anything for a rental?

I don't think anyone is going to give us a pick for Lee. If we can't use him in a larger trade for a star, he will be cut after today , and every team knows this.

I'd love to get Bellineli for a reasonable cost though, his shooting could be huge for us down the stretch and in the playoffs.

It would likely be a (heavily protected) second, since they could save a bunch of money by adding him
I'm bitter.

You are way too infatuated with us getting a pick from Portland for Lee.  Of all the things I'm sure of, if David Lee goes to Portland, we will not be getting a pick for him.

So why isn't Portland getting Steve Novak from the Thunder then, who desperately want to save luxury tax dollars?  Why didn't they get Chris Anderson from the Heat, who instead sent a pick to
Memphis to save on taxes?  If the Celtics want to dump Lee, they have one potential buyer.  If Portland wants to take on more salary to get above the floor, they have 29 potential sellers.  Accordingly, Portland has no reason to send out picks.

You don't think it's a sensible deal?

Maybe we will, maybe we won't. But we will get $5mil, and more importantly, an open roster spot.... without Buying Lee Out (which i ******' hate)...
