None of these guys are KG or Pierce to me.  The Celtics have always had players that were held in high esteem period all the way back.   Are we really going to add Blake Griffin or Howard to that?  The Celtics may be in a position where they really limit what they have to choose from.  I'd rather build a team of underdogs and overachievers in ways than sell my soul to the devil.  Horford is somewhat of a possibility but I still wonder how much he helps us.  Getting Horford or Howard is really contingent on being able to add a superstar later.  Love would be good but again we are dealing with the enemy.  Cousins I like.  The draft itself is somewhat overhyped although Ainge can probably find someone.  I'd like him to do the same in trades but I haven't heard it overly.

I'm with you, not excited about most of these guys.  I was a little interested in T Harris, but that ship has sailed.  As always it comes down to what price do you have to pay?

I like the guys we have.  I feel like IT's a good leader who's cocky and keeps our confidence high like Pierce, and I feel like Smart is a good emotional leader/defensive general who's always barking the assignments/rotations and keeping our energy high like KG.

Then you've got the shooters who play off of them (Bradley, Crowder, KO) who unfortunately don't amount to Ray Allen.

I think we need MORE guys who are capable of shooting and slashing like those 3.

That and a strong pick and roll/pop player (all star) for IT to play with.

Those 5 guys plus Johnson are the only guys I'm really attached to (though I'd give any of them up for the right price).

Would love Cousins.  Like Griffin.  Howard's okay but wouldn't give up a ton for him unless he commits to resigning.  Horford's acceptable too, I'm not greedy, I'm realistic.  Same caveat as Howard though.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

None of the players on the team right now is Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, or Kevin Garnett.

It's not even clear that any of them has "Playoff Rondo" kind of performances in their repertoire, when it really matters.  Maybe we'll find out this year.

You have to look at this team on its own merits.  They won't stand up to the historical greats, but they might be better than those early / mid 2000s teams that were rambunctious in the playoffs a few times.

I dunno if adding anybody currently rumored to be available would make the kind of difference the greats of old made, either.  I wouldn't want to give up a treasure trove for any of them.  But if it helps to make the Celts look like a legitimate sub-contender that's one piece away from competing for the Finals, then it could be a really good move to take a chance on a guy like Horford or even Howard.

I do have to look at this team differently.  I like our guys although we aren't the most talented bunch.  We have  a lot of good players though. I like them all.  I look around the league and a lot of the top players are kind of ****s.  I feel like Ainge has to find an upper echelon player somewhere that isn't as known.  Good luck though.  Kris Middleton is a nice player and there are other good players in the NBA.  I just don't know who Ainge could target realistically and a guy who's about to make it big.  The NBA  is really kind of limited that way.

I like our team a lot but its not a championship team.  No way no how.  I would be very excited to get Love and/or Horford for the long term...and Griffin....

Adding a guy like Horford puts you in the conversation. With the current team, you're outside of the conversation.

I would get excited about Horford if we got him without giving up any of the core
(Smart Thomas Bradley crowder Nets '16)

I'd be ok with losing Bradley but only if another trade replaces his shooting(perhaps a mclemore deal or something like that)

The only one I'm especially excited about its Dwight - not because i think he's still the completely dominant superstar he once was, but because i think that the skills/talents he offers are exactly what this team needs, and hence i feel he would make an impact bigger than his stats alone would suggest.

I am pretty indifferent about all the other options that have been raised (Love, Horford, Gallinari, etc) though.  I just don't feel either of those guys offers us much we dont already have, and i think the small gain they might bring isnt nearly worth the costs (contract wise, or in terms or risking team chemistry with midseason changes).

I'd honestly probably rather make no deal rather than offer anything significant for those guys.

There's nobody on the Cavs roster (bar Lebron) that i have any interest for, and the only Hawks players id like to swing deals for would be Millsap and Korver.

Horford is way too 'bleh' and just offers more of the same stuff we already have...while Love is an oft-injured inefficient chucker and professional loser.  If i want a big who will shoot Allen Iverson like field goal percentages, then I'll just re-sign Sully and save myself a large wad of cash.

That would be ridiculous to give up the Brooklyn pick for an expiring contract rental.

I beg to differ.

Atlanta have Horford.  Thwy also have a Millsap, a Teague, and a Korver.

Yet the Hawks are less 'in the comversation' than we are.

Go figure.

Yeah!! I was fighting over this senseless rumor over a social media page.

Horford would be the guy to me.  I don't see Love moving right now. I don't really want Blake or Howard.  Horford if we can get him for the right price makes sense.  Keep building with  Isaiah, Smart and Crowder. I'm just not sure I see Atlanta moving on from Horford this soon. That's at least an incrememtal upgrade that doesn't hurt chemistry though.

Same thing though. If we passed on Horford I wouldn't be disapointed.  I don't think he's that big an upgrade.
