Gasol would make us so much better inside. I would do it for the right price. really gives us length and experience.  A winner.

Chicago fans supposedly don't like Pau a bit because he doesn't play defense. Or at least  that's what they said when we played them this year.
His legs are gone. He can't change directions or move quickly enough to play solid defense.

His DRPM is excellent.  Experience counts for a lot, especially for big men, when it comes to defense.

I would try to work in a three team trade with the 76ers.

Celtics receive-
Pau Gasol

Send-
David Lee
Jared Sullinger

76ers receive-
David Lee
76ers 2nd rd pick 2016

76ers send-
Carl Landry

Bulls receive-
Carl Landry
Jared Sullinger
Celtics 1st

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=z2fouk8

I love this. I think Gasol would fit directly into Sullys role and would be an upgrade over everything he does.
2019 Historical Draft - Golden State

C - Bill Russell/Joel Embiid
PF - Giannis Antetokounmpo/Tommy Heinsohn
SF - Kevin Durant/Billy Cunningham
SG - Bruce Bowen/David Thompson
PG - Isiah Thomas/James Harden

Bulls have bigger problems than Gasol. Think he wants out myself and the Bulls are afraid he walks for nothing.

Has an career Defensive Rating of 104 which is average and a positive career Defensive Box +/- in every year of his career (and 20th in the NBA this year) which is very good. Not elite, but he's not bad. 6th and 5th in rebounds and blocks per game, respectively, and still a very productive offensive player though much more of a high post guy than  a center who plays down low. Good passer and pretty much tied with his brother as the best passing center after Noah. Good range as a shooter.

Supposedly the Bulls are "aggressively shopping" Pau Gasol.

What would you give up to get him?  I'm not sure how much better he'd make the Celts, but I think he'd definitely be an upgrade.

How about Sullinger, Jerebko, and 2016 DAL 1st for Pau & Tony Snell?

It's not an exciting package for the Bulls, but it fits the "decent young player plus 1st round pick" profile that most teams seem to be asking for in trade rumors, and they can't expect to get much more than that for a 35 year old on a de-facto expiring deal.

Celts get a year and a half of Tony Snell (RFA in summer 2017) as long term value even if Pau goes elsewhere in the summer.
Like this deal.

while this is the boring part of trade discussions (for most, understandably -- i happen to enjoy it), Gasol's salary doesn't match up well with the Cs.

Sullinger + Jerebko for Gasol + Snell works.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Tony Snell is not better then Jonas Jerebko in their roles.

I'd give up our pick and Lee, Zeller. I wouldn't want to give more than that because he's a rental that will probably be over paid next year. At the price of Lee, Zeller and a first I'm fine with him walking at the end of the year.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

This is how I feel.  How would a Gasol, Howard combo work or a Gasol, Horford?  By the way, I cant believe at age 35 Gasol is still going for 17,11 and two blocks a night that's pretty impressive...

I can see it. I'm not in favor of it, but I can see it. Just have my doubts about what Brad Stevens would think of it.

Im in for Gasol...seen a few Bulls games--and it seems he's being used the wrong way...sort of out of position...I dunno, maybe it's just me--but he would be perfect in Brad's system.

Zeller, Jerebko, PHI 2nd (basically late first), any other 2nds, max cash.

If need be they can have Hunter, Rozier, Mickey, or Young, or possibly a future Celtics pick (since we're going to be a top team).

I think Stevens would love Gasol, and he'd play the most minutes of our bigs.  IT would love him in the pick and roll, he's a great spacer (better than anyone big our team aside from Sully) and he's an amazing passer (so everyone else will love playing with him too).  Fits Brad perfectly.

Gasol makes us a strong contender, but only for 2 years.  I'd take the gamble, but not for Sully, or the DAL or MEM pick.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Gasol/Horford would work better, as I don't think Gasol can defend opposing 4s anymore. Horford can.

Don't see him moving significantly slower than Sully.  Sully coming down the court is painful to watch.  Visibly getting killed by everyone else out there.

Gasol isn't late career Shaq or Hibbert yet.

His length should certainly make up for any lateral quickness advantage Sully has.

Some talk about this in the reddit thread to. I wouldn't trade anything with long-term implications. I personally think Sullinger and Young are going to be gone next year, so if the Bulls value them I would happily send them to Chicago in exchange for a fun little boost to our 2016 playoff run. I'm not interested in much else.
