No one brought up the fact that this is partially coming from Steven A Smith? Right there that leads me to believe that it is completely made up. Has he ever been right about anything?

he was right about doc leaving to go to clips. He was the first one that announced it was going to happen

Let's be accurate, though. This is what he reported:

Quote
The proposal allegedly being discussed was Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Clippers for Blake Griffin, Eric Bledsoe, DeAndre Jordan and Caron Butler. Then Doc Rivers would walk away from the Celtics this summer and sign on to coach the Clippers in place of a canned Vinny Del Negro.

Would you consider that to be getting it right?

Of course he was way off on the proposed deal, but he is obviously connected people around the league, especially Doc

So, his connections don't translate to accuracy. In other words, made up nonsense.

How is it made up if Doc actually went to the Clippers? Maybe he exaggerated it to get a bigger headline, but it's not like he was wrong about Doc wanting to go there and the clippers having to trade for him, which they did.....

He said we'd get Blake, Bledsoe and Jordan (!!!);

He said we'd trade KG and Pierce;

He said that Doc would sign with the Clippers, not be traded there.

Wrong on literally every single count.  Made up nonsense.  Or, in your words, "way off".  Celtics Thug got more stuff right than that.

We would have traded KG and PP(or at least KG) in the deal with the Clippers if the NBA didn't nix it . Danny tried to do that, that's why the c's and Clips weren't able to trade for a year after that .

His info was solid in my opinion . He didn't get the packages right , but if Danny could have , he would have traded PP and KG to get Jordan back .

It's no coincidence that KG and PP were traded on draft night, if Danny could have sent them to LA he would have.

To me he had a lot of the parts right , but he just greatly exaggerated the proposal , doesn't mean he didn't have a lot of info on the deal .

When you make up so much nonsense as Stephen A Smith; then you are eventually bound to get some of the nonsense right. The Doc news were his "15 minutes of fame".

This exactly.

I love how people are giving him the benefit of the doubt for "he said Doc was going to the Clippers" but forget about the 9,000 other bogus rumors he has brought up over the last 5 or so years that didn't even come close to happening.

He got 1 out of 6 parts partially right, and he was wrong on the mechanism by which Doc would get to LA.

Seriously, Griffin + Bledsoe + Jordan for KG + Pierce?  You read that as giving SAS credibility?

If he hits with the same level of accuracy on this report, that would project to Blake staying in LA, but the Clippers trading CJ Wilcox.

I'm not wading into that particular discussion, but wasn't he also one of the first to call LeBron + Bosh to Miami in 2010?

Stating the obvious here...

Can't believe this guy is still getting quoted especially after both Mark Cuban and Kevin Durant put him on blast for lying. His credibility has definitely taken a hit in my book.

This meme is funny, but you do realize that's Chris Broussard, not Stephen A. Smith right?

Different ESPN talking head: slightly less annoying (IMO) not more/less accurate.

That is just crazy that Denver would turn that down.  Clips must have also asked for some 1sts.

Why assume it came from the Clippers and not the Celtics?

EDIT: I mean is that really any different than Smart for Noel and 3.  And look at what KG and PP actually ended up yielding.  It wasn't like it might not have been out there as being discussed.  Being discussed doesn't mean ever seriously considered.
