No one brought up the fact that this is partially coming from Steven A Smith? Right there that leads me to believe that it is completely made up. Has he ever been right about anything?

Yeah. Whatever the truth is, "trying to get rid of" is made up nonsense. If the Clippers were "trying to get rid of" Blake, 29 other franchises would be lining up to take that burden off of their hands.

Stephen A. Smith is very tight with Doc.  He had Doc getting traded to the Clippers about 6 months before it happened.  To me, since it's coming from Stephen A. Smith, I think it has some tractions....

Also - Stephen A. Smith was the first to report Lebron, Wade and Bosh teaming up....

If Griffin really is available this is the guy you give up the pick for... I doubt he's moved at the deadline though I really don't see it.

The thing is the Clippers are in win now mode and the Nets pick does not help them win now.  It would have to be something of a 3 team deal like Blake coming here, Melo to Clippers, and rebuilding assets to the Knicks.

They should trade B.Griffin to Chicago for J.Butler.

I think J.Butler is the best wing they can get in a trade for B.Griffin. I don't think Indy will part with P.George or SAS with K.Leonard. They could maybe go after J.Harden. Not a good fit between Harden and CP3 though. Kevin Love is the other option. An out-and-out big but with superior perimeter skills to work with CP3 and D.Jordan.

I think the Carmelo Anthony idea up above was a great choice. A little concerned about his age (32yo in 3 months) but Melo is the type of forward that LAC should want in a space and pace offense. Melo would fit wonderfully well next to CP3 and D.Jordan.

In a deal with Chicago for J.Butler -- Maybe LAC could even snare away Mirotic as well from Chicago somehow. Start J.Butler at SF and Mirotic at PF. Redick and CP3 in the backcourt. D.Jordan manning the middle. P.Pierce and Jamal Crawford as key bench guys. That would be a fearsome team.

That would actually be a really interesting trade.  Seems to work on both ends.

If the clips can get a player like melo out of this with adding talented role players like ab and sully, they would be smart to do it.

You have just as strong of a chance winning this year.

Plus next year you would have some cap space to sign a replacement for griffin(though they would likely have to move Reddick for enough cap space to sign someone like Horford)

CP3
AB
Melo
Horford
Jordan

That team could win a title.

Stephen A Smith is well connected.  He doesn't just make up things.

Stating the obvious here...

Can't believe this guy is still getting quoted especially after both Mark Cuban and Kevin Durant put him on blast for lying. His credibility has definitely taken a hit in my book.

he was right about doc leaving to go to clips. He was the first one that announced it was going to happen

Let's be accurate, though. This is what he reported:

Quote
The proposal allegedly being discussed was Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Clippers for Blake Griffin, Eric Bledsoe, DeAndre Jordan and Caron Butler. Then Doc Rivers would walk away from the Celtics this summer and sign on to coach the Clippers in place of a canned Vinny Del Negro.

Would you consider that to be getting it right?

Of course he was way off on the proposed deal, but he is obviously connected people around the league, especially Doc. His report about doc wanting to go to the clips he got before anyone else.

So, his connections don't translate to accuracy. In other words, made up nonsense.

How is it made up if Doc actually went to the Clippers? Maybe he exaggerated it to get a bigger headline, but it's not like he was wrong about Doc wanting to go there and the clippers having to trade for him, which they did.....

When you make up so much nonsense as Stephen A Smith; then you are eventually bound to get some of the nonsense right. The Doc news were his "15 minutes of fame".
