The Pistons and Nets have reportedly been discussing a potential trade that would send Brandon Jennings to Brooklyn in exchange for Thaddeus Young

Sheridan hoops

This could be huge if this happens

Jennings will probably shoot the Nets out of a lot of games.

Doesn't make a ton of sense as they'd have to resign Jennings and Young is on a reasonable long term contract.

Perhaps this is them showing a lot of belief in McColough and rhj.

more likely would be that they use this move to acquire draft picks without really downgrading the team. A pretty wise move for the long term I suppose, but great for our picks.

Also this doesn't seem to make sense for Detroit who just lost KCP.

That would be a RISKY long term move for Brooklyn. It's hard to imagine they could attract a FA as good as Young for the same amount of money and years.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Yeah I don't see how this makes them much better. Seems like a desperation move.

This would be great for Celtics . Kinda dumb for Nets ...but hey they are known for incredible stupid moves .

Young and Lopez is all that stands between Nets ever sniffing another win this year .  Take them away .....and the 76ers look like the Spurs in comparison.

That would be good for Detroit and for our draft pick, and bad for Brooklyn.

This would be huge for us.  Thad Young is so much better than Jennings and just reducing the talent on that team even further is a win.  Jennings had what, 5 points against us while playing half the minutes at the point?  Pull the trigger whoever replaced Billy King!

Also, the headline over at Nets Daily is, "Would the Nets trade Thaddeus Young for Brandon Jennings?  Really?"
http://www.netsdaily.com/2016/2/4/10918570/article

Here is the main part of the article, although it seems like the Nets would get some other throw ins:

Quote
Really?  How many ways does this not make sense?

--The Nets don't have a general manager.  NOTHING has been decided on a successor to Billy King.  Frank Zanin, King's long time assistant, carries the phone other GMs know to call but remains the assistant GM, not the interim. One would think that Nets ownership would want a GM in place before taking on a deal of this magnitude.

--Jennings is an unrestricted free agent, making $8.34 million this season. The Nets could bid on him in the summer if they want him.  Getting him or any other player now isn't going to help the Nets make the playoffs. Also, Jennings recently returned from a ruptured achilles tendon and has averaged 6.6 points and 3.3 assists in 18 minutes over 19 games.

--If the Nets traded for Jennings, they could lose him in free agency, although Sheridan says the Nets are "willing to give Jennings a long-term contract as they begin the process of rebuilding following the reign of error directed by Billy King."

--Young, on the other hand, is having a career year, averaging 15 and 9, with 22 double-doubles. He is 27 years old, only a year older than Jennings, and is signed to a four-year deal.  Young's wife she doesn't know anything...

I'd love this as well. Young is there second best player behind Lopez. Either one of these guys go, Brooklyn will only get worse.

The thing is that if they did it They would have enough cap for 2 max guys.

Not that I think they'd get anyone that great but it's something to look out for.

If they trade for Jennings and they suck worse (fairly possible) and we end up with a top 2 pick, I don't care if 17 and 18 are in the high 20s that's a great result
For Boston.

Young has been super-solid this year, but I would worry that Jennings might go off a few times and win some games on his own. It is better for BKN to keep barely losing all of their games than to win some and get blown out in the others.

Doesn't really make sense for either BRK or DET.

Young fits in BRK next to Lopez. He doesn't fit so well next to Drummond in DET.

Young is probably BRK's best trade chip, but why use it on a guy set to become a FA -- especially when BRK can simply sign him in the offseason?

Brooklyn still believes it is a FA destination. by trading Young, they open up even more cap space because Jennings is an expiring. My guess is that would be enough to sign two max guys this off-season. Or they could resign Jennings.

They can keep Young and have enough cap space to sign Jennings. Don't need to trade Young.

TP - they have nothing to gain or lose by acquiring him now. If they strike out in free agency, they can give Jennings all the money he desires...and why wouldn't a high volume shooting PG want to go to a team with no prospects of winning? He would get unlimited opportunity to shoot to his heart's content.
