Just want to take a poll of what people are willing to give up/ or not give up . I think I go with C's have to keep Crowder, KO,IT, Smart and at least 2 of the brk picks(2016,2018) .

So my strongest offer would be something like

Lee, Sully , AB,  nets 2017, bos 2016 pick, Hunter

Vote on this, I want to see what c's fans think

No Brooklyn picks. Too much concern over Dwight's health and longevity.

Dude isn't Dwight an unrestricted free agent this summer?  No way am I giving up a ton of assets for that punk *****.  He'll just end up signing in Orlando this summer or something as some misguided attempt to repair his brand and "come home" ala-LeBron.

I'm fine with trading for him at the expense of David Lee, Jerebko and probably the Dallas 1st.  Dwight would improve this team and he has enough talent that gambling on him for a deep playoff run makes some sense... but I'm not giving up any significant long-term pieces for an annoying soul-sucking Dwight Howard rental... I'd rather just keep rooting against him.

The fact this rumor exists kind of shows how desperate Ainge is for consolidation move.  It sure is a seller's market right now.

I'll probably get told that the Rockets would laugh and hang up, but the max I'd offer is Dallas 2016, a second-rounder or two, Lee and Sully. Sorry, this guy is on the back half of his career, has a history of injuries and is no more than a rental (because I'm not giving him a max contract). And frankly, I'd even question if I would give away the Dallas pick; I'm not sure I'd want to do anything more than our 2016 pick.

Lee, Sully, a non Brooklyn first...whatever else is needed for salaries. That's it. No IT, no Smart, no Crowder, and definitely no Brooklyn picks...

I mostly agree with you, though I think there are some peripheral benefits that make giving up Sullinger (no future here, I hope) and a 1st rounder (most likely in the 20-30 range) more than worth it.

- Brad would get to handle a player with a star personality & star pedigree for the first time

- Brad would get his first genuine opportunity to guide a team with a chance at winning some playoff games

- Other players around the league would see how our coach and the rest of our team handle the first two things

- Adding Dwight Howard to the rotation could help make some of the other guys look better, which could be valuable when Danny's trying to make more moves this summer.

- If we traded a handful of players just to get Dwight and perhaps one other player, that could help with the roster logjam and free up playing time over the rest of the season for other guys.

And who knows, it might result in the Celts locking up Dwight for the remainder of his significant years in the league.

Dwight might not really be "worth" a max contract anymore, but with the rising cap and the fact that the Celts have lots of rookie contract guys in the pipeline and at least a couple of key contributors on way-below-market deals, they can afford to overspend on one or two established guys.

I am fine with two firsts (Celtics, Mavs) and whatever cap filler is required.

Whatever combination of cap filler Houston wants. Lee, Jerebko, Turner. Those guys. Sully can count as cap filler too. As does Amir.

Not willing to part with Rozier, Mickey or RJ Hunter. James Young would be the equivalent of one of those first rounders if included.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Let me reverse the question and put in what I would not give up for Dwight.

Isaiah Thomas
Jae Crowder
Marcus Smart
Kelly Olynyk (like his fit with Dwight)
Brooklyn Picks
Future picks from 2020 onwards

Anything and anyone else is fair game.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

Eh, if we can convince them to take Young and a mid-2nd (not Sixers or Philly) and keep one of the two firsts, I would be much happier with that. I would rather have a re-do on the Young pick than hope Young works out (crazier things have happened, though).

This poll is pointless, of course everyone will vote no. The Brooklyn picks and Smart aren't even on the table for Howard obviously

and why would Houston do that? Can we be at least somewhat realistic with the offers ? Howard is still a top 5 center in the league that would anchor our already top 5 defense .

Any team in the league can offer a few 2nd rd picks and a Young type prospect

Likely has to involve a big expiring ( Lee) , a solid young player on a good contract ( Bradley ) and at least 2 1st rd picks ( one likely being the nets 2017 )

Very, very little. My best offer would be Lee, Sully, Jerebko and the Dallas Pick. He's going to be an Unrestricted Free Agent. Giving up anything of great value would be a monumental mistake.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.
