I think the top 4 are separated from the pack. That is solid. The rest is very much open to discussion and individual preferences.

I still like MCW's and Len's potential so I gave them the nod in next two slots. After that, I gave preference to over Olynyk were guys (KCP, Adams) who I felt were able to play 30-35mpg on a title contender which I do not think Olynyk has proven yet. I thought 9-12 was very fluid and could be listed in any order. I gave Schroeder and Porter the nod over Olynyk because of their superior athleticism and defense.

Why McCollum at 16?

Yeah, that surprised me. McCollum is developing quickly.

He is a solid player but not convinced he is anything more than that. Looks like a combo guard who belongs in a bench role to me. Neither a true PG or a true SG. Doesn't have the floor general skills to play PG full time. Doesn't have the size, defense & rebounding to be a starting SG. A good scorer but little else to his game.

I think his stats are being padded on a bad team in Portland.

On a strong playoff team, I think McCollum is playing 20mpg and scoring 10ppg.

There are a number of things I disagree with here, but one thing is for sure: the ability to score out of isolation is a tremendously underrated skill in the age of "team offense." That applies mostly to McCollum but I guess it could apply to Olynyk too.

Glad to see KCP in your top 8, though. I am a huge fan of him.

KO is a top 5 pick.  Alex Len has not shown that he is better imo

I like A.Len's talent. I think he'll come good over time. Be an above average starting center. I love his size and length. Good quickness & mobility. Improving defender and rebounder. Nice touch around the basket. Scores from a lot of different angles around the basket. Little bit of a jump-shot out to around 15 feet that can be developed further. I think Len can be a really good starting caliber center with some coaching and patience.

I think Shabazz is a middle of the pack bench SF. A below average defender & a poor ball-handler, jump-shooter and passer. A good scorer. A power SF who can beat opponents inside. A highly specific skill-set that requires the right type of teammates to take advantage of those skills properly. Not a well-rounded player.

Again, a bench role for about 20mpg is about right and a guy who will not fit into the offensive schemes of many teams around the league. More dependent on fit than others due to lack of well-rounded offensive game.

I encourage you to watch CJ. Very similar to Kyrie. Can't play D, but can do everything offensively. Run PNR, shoot, attack the basket, spit the double, pass, great handles, floaters, etc.

Blazers fans wouldn't trade him straight up for Love. Just to give you an idea of what their fanbase thinks of him.

He is very talented offensively and makes losing wes matthews in free agency, an after thought

he wont be that franchise type talent but is a starting calibre PG

if anything comes out of this redraft it's that not one player has broken out and become a top player.  a lot of people still ranking based on potential development rather than how they're playing now.  THAT and the fact Anthony Bennett is probably the worst #1 pick of all time.

On second thoughts, I agree that CJ McCollum is too low. I am going to move him up to #11 ahead of Olynyk (Olly now #12) and the players previously ahead of McCollum down one slot. I still have a lot of concerns about his game but I didn't give him enough credit for the things he is good at. McCollum does have value as a bench scorer. Sort of a poor man's Ben Gordon.

I will keep the top 10 as it is.

By the way, Dieng, Plumlee, and Ezeli are outside of my top 10 in large part because they are fairly old -- already 25/26 in their 3rd NBA season -- and have pretty much been what they are from day 1. 


Looks like TheFlex and I are more or less on the same page.


As for McCollum -- scoring 20 points per game on a team that pretty desperately lacks scoring outside of two ball-dominant players who have to share the ball is pretty impressive, especially when you consider that McCollum is both consistent and efficient despite this being his first year in anything resembling a featured role.   

Add to that the fact that the Blazers are actually pretty decent and in the mix for the playoffs, and I think he deserves a lot of credit.

where does Kelly go?

I averaged the percentile ranking for 4 advanced stats (PER, Winshares/48, Box +/-, and VORP) for 2013 draftees playing at least 16 MPG (a third of the game IOW) compared to the 452 players in the current 2015-16 BB-reference database. Assuming 33% for the bottom limit for a starter, 67% for a rotation player, and below that for a scrub. KO ranks very well obviously, but unfortunately plays for the Celtics and thus will suffer in CBlog rankings.
