He is now shooting 0.293 down in the Dleague.  Shot 2-8 from the 3 the last game.

If RJ does not get the 3 pt shot going, I mean what else does he have?? Pretty good iq, length, underrated defender. But has problems finishing around the basket and now can't shoot threes (considered his bread and butter)

"Pretty good iq, length, underrated defender."

That's a start.

He is a rookie who is still making his body into an NBA body. Give the boy time.

this is not a situation where a rookie that went from shooting even 35 per 3's at college to 29 percent in the dleague

its a guy that has been shooting the 3 in a very inefficient way since last season in college

hunter and young are suppose to be the 2 celt sharpshooters of the future.   doesn't look bright

look at a guy like Devin Booker as a comparison. That kid is going to be the next Klay Thompson

The guy turns 23 this year, he is getting pretty long in the tooth ha ha , I am waiting for someone to label him another miss by Ainge and for in 2 or 3 years time someone drafted after him to be putting up better stats so Ainge can be accused of not drafting that particular guy either.
The guy needs to play off of other guys creating looks for him to make up for his lack of elite athletism.

Maybe he needs to be shooting fewer 3's and looking to take closer shots until he finds his rhythm.

Could be he needs to get stronger too. Building up his body over time might make taking these shots easier for him.

I agree with this.  He doesn't appear to be a great 3 point shooter, so he should take shots that he can make at a decent percentage.

I wonder if some of it is his heavy weight training to gain muscle throwing off his touch. I'm sure they have a proper work out regiment, but you never know how these things effect people differently. Jordan use to work out right before the game which is not recommended, but it got him going.

Hunter has a lot of skills that most first year players don't have, huge IQ. I would hope he can find a consistent out side shot.

Maybe he and Smart need to go visit Mark Price this summer. :)

I watched the Red Claws play Canton the other day in a D League game and Hunter and Rozier were awful. There seemed to be some conflict between the players with R.J. and Terry jocking up a bunch of shots and I think the whole team scored 24 points in the second half and looked really bad. seemed like Rozier and Hunter were ball hogging and weren't even hitting the rim!!!
bad b ball

well the 28th pick could hardly ever be labeled a miss...

There is a difference between a volume scorer and a shooter, RJ is the former.   That being said he has a high basketball IQ and contributes in many other ways.   But he did not shoot a great % in college either folks.

hard to judge with his shot selection and range, plus the mental and physical playing nba defence and even his weight lifting routine but in practice his shooting ability can be gauged as to whether he is a volume chucker or a skilled marksman
wonder where we would be if we kept gi gi a proven marksman-the way our rookies shoot, how many points would he have added-with seconds left how many games could he have influenced just by drawing attention
brad and ainge should be asked about rj and his shot in practice is he really deadly, if so, why has young jumped up,is rj's shoulder bothering him
in a shootout is it young or rj--why don't teams have a specilist sharpsooter like a field goal kicker-end of quarters or when you need 3 pointers down 10 with time ticking-
