Looks like the Hawks might be sellers. What do you think it would take to get horford on the last year of his contract? Maybe this would make it easier for the Celtics to sign him after this year.

Hawks are only selling a PG. I cannot see why or how they would move Horford. He's so important to their success.
I agree they would not move Horford. However, I wonder if dealing Teague makes them take a step back this year which leads to Horford leaving.

I saw on ESPN they proposed Teague for Burke and Burks.  Teague would be the clear starter for their playoff push, and could bring Exum along slowly with a year off. Burke could split time with Schroeder, and Burks offers protection if Bazemore leaves in the offseason.

As for Horford I'd love him as the Amir replacement in the offseason, that's if we don't trade for a younger star.

Yeah I saw that rumor. I think Teague and Exum could play in a two pg system next to each other. Constantly pushing the ball off steals and Gobert blocks.

I'd want Horford to play next to Amir not replace him.

Saw that, but I don't see what incentive Utah has for a playoff push - it's not like the Celts last year who could say, "At least we have the Brooklyn pick so we don't have to tank." Especially since this year's 8-seed will get spanked by GS (although - playoff Rondo, anyone???).

Horford and Korver for Lee, Rozier, and a pick? I don't imagine any other reasonable framework, and I am not sure this is what we need. Just wait for the offseason and sign him.

I honestly don't think that would even get you Korver  let alone him and Horford.  Getting Lee does absolutely nothing for them and then you're talking Rozier and a pick?  No way.

I made an attempt at this. I pulled Portland into the mix because of the reports that David Lee would be a good match for them to help with their salary floor problem.

Boston receives: Horford, Mack, Connaughton

Atlanta receives: Sullinger, Rozier, Dallas 2016 1st, Philly 2016 2nd

Portland receives: Lee, future 2nd round pick

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=zpppls7

Why for Boston: They get an All-Star small ball center who can pass, hit the 3, and handle the ball. Mack is a Butler guy and would be depth at the guard position. Connaughton is a MA native who can either be waived or sent to Maine.

Why for Atlanta: If they do in fact want to hit the reset button, this would be paired with a Teague trade. They get a young rookie PG to play behind Schroder and the bird rights to a young PF in Sullinger. Add 2 picks, one being IMO the very valuable 31st pick. They clear off Mack's last year and make space behind Schroder for Rozier.

Why for Portland: They bring their salary up to the floor and don't have to pay the penalty. They get a future second round draft pick out of it.

We could also get super ridiculous with a 4 team trade  ;)

I assume he's meaning Brooklyn's 2016 first round pick.

Love to see Horford in a Cs uniform. Losing him at the end of the year does concern me. I wouldn't give them the Nets pick, but would be fine with the our pick or Dallas and a couple players, Lee, Turner and Sully??

Horford might literally be the best fit for us of any player in the NBA. If he is available, I'm ready to start trading these picks.

But I don't think Horford is on the block. In fact, I think it's a silly notion.

I don't see why Atlanta wouldn't look into it. They're obviously not going that far this year. If Horford walks after this year they lose him with nothing to show.

You're certainly right if Horford is thinking about walking. If you or I ran the Hawks, who are 27-19 (!), wouldn't we be doing everything possible to make Horford happy and tweak around him? If you were Horford, would you rather get your superdooper max extension and keep running with a contending team that showed flashes last year of greatness?

I would be shocked if ATL trades Horford. Moving one of the PGs for a wing upgrade seems like a much more logical move. Maybe something like Teague to NY for Afflalo and a 1st?

Horford would be a perfect fit with the Cs but trading for him would be risky move and DA would have to be very confident in him resigning. With the risk of him not signing I would not want to see Smart, Crowder, or any of the Nets picks included in a deal.

My other fear with trading for Horford is that he will accelerate this teams growth to a point where a championship in not possible. While they are currently having issues the Cavs are still the best team in the east and the team most likely to play in the finals. Lebron is currently 31 and though at the tail end of it he is still at his peak. In acquiring Horford the Cs would have their best player in a similar (though slightly younger) age range. Assuming the Cs core stays intact with the Horford acquisition we would be set up for likely 2-3 years of being a top 3 team in the east going against james. This is great except for the fact that this team could possibly also age with the Cavs and not be around to preceded them. If the Cs can obtain a center piece big who is slightly young (IE Favors, Cousins, Love) or much younger via the Nets pick then they could not only compete in the top of the east now but also have our core in their prime as James slides down his.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the player the C's ended up getting from the Hawks was Bazemore.  In the summer of 2014, Danny's first call was to IT4.  We ended up getting him last trade deadline.  Stevens' first call was reportedly to Bazemore.  Might we get him this trade deadline? He's a cheap expiring who might not be in Atlanta's long-term plans.  Young and some seconds or the Minny "1st" could get it done.

I consider Korver a salary dump. He's 34, hasn't been particularly effective this season, and is under contract for another year. If the Hawks are "resetting", I'm sure part of that may involve converting his salary slot into picks.

Horford is UFA this summer. He's not going to command a king's ransom. A good first rounder and a prospect should be enough.

It seems as though the Hawks are shopping Teague while Horford is up at the end of the year. Should we offer AJ and Bradley plus our Dallas pick for Horford and Teague? The only guarantee that we have is that Teague will be here next year. Atlanta gets AJ for next year and Bradley for two more years. We're taking the big gamble in this proposal so we're giving up less talent.
