Looks like the Hawks might be sellers. What do you think it would take to get horford on the last year of his contract? Maybe this would make it easier for the Celtics to sign him after this year.

I think they are looking to deal Teague because they have Schroeder to start if they move Teague. I don't see it as an indication that they will move Horford.

What teams need a pg? Teague is a really good player and could really help someone. I'm curious as to who Teague could get back for Atlanta, would it be picks that cause them to step back this year or pieces that would improve them now.

Now, if Horford and Teague are close maybe that effects what happens in free agency. Horford is our most realistic target IMO.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Teague is a fringe all star.  Has Schroder really improved all that much?  To me I think it would be more likely they would move Schroder.  I read somewhere Utah might be looking for a PG.  They are right on the cusp of making the playoffs.

A lot of teams could use Teague (NY, BKN, HOU, MIL, etc.), I'm just not sure there are going to be a lot of teams that have the pieces where it also makes sense to acquire him (maybe Milwaukee).

That said, I think Philly will make a push for him in the summer.  He would make a lot of sense on that team and would push them to credibility and they clearly have the assets to acquire him.  It won't happen during the season though.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Teague has really taken a step back this year (especially lately) and seems to have forgotten how to shoot at even a below average percentage. I am sure the Hawks could still get a decent return for him, but a guy like IT is clearly a better player at this point.

As for Horford - yes, definitely.

Schroeder hasn't improved to the point that he is better than Teague, but Teague is eligible for an extension this summer. If they get to the offseason his trade value is probably diminished, since not extending him probably indicates that he won't be on the Hawks long term.

I really like the fit in Utah. Not sure who they would give up though. Him in Philly would probably be a perfect fit. Teague is like Ish Smith 5.0. New York and Milwaukee really make sense too.

The thing with Utah is they have Exum for the long term PG.  As such, I don't see them giving up anywhere near enough value to acquire Teague given their long term prospects.

The problem with Philly is, they aren't going to ruin their shot at the worst record and I don't see them trading any of their strong assets until the off season.  The other thing is, what is Atlanta trying to accomplish.  Are they going into rebuilding or do they want to still compete but make better use of the assets?  I don't think the Hawks will know that until they know what Horford does this summer.

I think Lowe mentioned this but I'm not positive. What about Alec Burks and Trey Burke for Teague. Burks is out for the year but long term he would probably be decent value for Teague while Trey Burke could be a solid back up pg.

Horford might literally be the best fit for us of any player in the NBA. If he is available, I'm ready to start trading these picks.

But I don't think Horford is on the block. In fact, I think it's a silly notion.

Horford and Korver for Lee, Rozier, and a pick? I don't imagine any other reasonable framework, and I am not sure this is what we need. Just wait for the offseason and sign him.

I don't see why Atlanta wouldn't look into it. They're obviously not going that far this year. If Horford walks after this year they lose him with nothing to show.

Hawks are only selling a PG. I cannot see why or how they would move Horford. He's so important to their success.

I agree they would not move Horford. However, I wonder if dealing Teague makes them take a step back this year which leads to Horford leaving.

If that's the case, I imagine they could find any number of S&T possibilities to recoup assets. The market for Horford will be strong.

I don't think next year is going to be a good market for S&T opportunities outside of restricted free-agents.
