Rounding out the top five are the Chicago Bulls ($2.3 billion), Boston Celtics ($2.1 billion) and Los Angeles Clippers ($2 billion). Thirteen teams are worth at least $1 billion, up from just three two years ago.

Nice article, TP.

I ve read the same Forbes thing last year, we were at a similar (if not the same) position, their analysis is very heavily skewed in favour of big market teams. That the C's are the only non-big market franchise that made it in the top 5 says a lot IMO.

Edit: in the original post you forgot to mention the Knicks are nr1.

Why did that just depress me a little for cheering for such a gigantic business?   :-\

Aren't there some idiots who try to claim that the Celtics are a small-market franchise due to some sort of homer martyr complex?

How do they come up with "worth?"  How do you know how much someone would pay for something (which is what I consider worth)?  Didn't the Clippers sell for 2 billion when the owner HAD to sell?  I would imagine you'd have to shell out quite a bit more than that to pry one of those top 5 market franchises away from a group who is happy and doesn't need or want to sell.  Especially considering that new TV deal.  They must be guaranteed money-makers right?
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale
