WE can really roll with our team as is this year imo and that might be the best possible situation.

We could move turner for a shooter and trade himwhile we can get something of value to help us this year. But i dont see where turner doesnt do the same and give our shooters a shot.  We want to give Smart more time at the point but that doesnt have to happen at the deadline.

Having Turners and Lee and Zellers contracts expiring is good. Sully too although I'd resign  him.  We could deal him for another scoring piece, and go hardcore free agency for rebounders this offseason though.

I really don't know how it all fits. More just thinking out loud. I don't think anything has to be done overly.

Looking at free agency i think we should keep Sully unless someone has a better idea. I don't think you just trade your best rebounder though.

I think even if KO starts to take off Sully is still valuable on this team.  Mickey needs a shot but even still.

I would look at dealing Turner around the deadline and Lee and seeing what we can get otherwise.

Lee and Zeller are already out of the typical rotation.  My guess is that Sully isn't playing well enough to be re-upped unless he agrees to a bargain basement contract (which I don't really expect).  I have no attachment to Turner, though I think he's been generally better than the apparent consensus here.  Jerebko and Johnson both have team options for next year IIRC, and while I like them as players, I wouldn't lose sleep over losing either of them.

My guess is that at least one of the young guards has a new home this offseason (Smart excepted).  You could make a case for or against each of them as future Celtics.  I admit that I have a bit of a soft spot for Young and I'd like to see him take a similar step forward next year.  But if I had to guess, I'd say he's the odd man out right now.

Ideally we let a few contracts expire and add a wing who can score.

points:
Smart, Thomas

wings:
AB, Hunter

swings:
Crowder, Jerebko

bigs:
Amir, Kelly & Mickey

Do you think young would get playing time somewhere else and what would we get in return? A better shooter?  If young isn't developing here sort of thing i guess I don't know.  I'm with you on zeller. I don't really see his future here although some other team might give him a shot.  Turner should have value.

I don't see us getting rid of our best rebounder.  I don't understand fans logic there of just letting a player like that go.

Who is going to rebound the basketball on this team?  We'd have to have some contingency plan.

My guess is that Young is worth an early second right now.  Trading him would be more about the freed roster spot than the return at this point though - we have a lot of picks and a lot of cap space to be active in the FA market.  And yeah, I believe he'd get playing time somewhere else.  He's made improvements, he has potential, and he's still very young.  I can think of several teams who wouldn't mind giving him minutes.  At the very least, I think he'd shoot his way out of this slump with steady playing time.

And yeah, Sully rebounds... but what else does he do?  He's a middling defender (based on the eye test - haven't looked at his defensive stats in a while) and an inefficient offensive player.  A good rebounder can stick around as a journeyman in this league, but he needs to prove that he's more than a rebounder to be considered an important piece of the team.  Like I said, I'm willing to bring him back if the price is right, but my guess is that we can find a better player for less money in free agency.

Nearly Untouchable: Crowder and Smart
It Would Take a Lot: Thomas, Mickey, Hunter, Olynyk
I'd Like to Keep Them: Amir, Bradley
I Hope He Goes to a Nice New Home: Zeller
Who Cares: Jerebko, Sully, Rozier, Young
Do Anything To Get Rid of Them: Lee and Turner
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Logic tells me that it will be Sullinger who is gone by the trade deadline but for some reason my gut says it's Olynik who is not here after the deadline. Time will tell I suppose. I like Olyniks' game better then Sullingers mainly because Olynik seems to stay in better shape think he is more likely to be traded because of his unique skill set. Kind of hope I am wrong though.

I'd like to see Smart, KO, Rozier and Mickey given a shot and more responsibility going forward. It doesn't have to happen right away but players might need to be moved to make that happen.

Rj is another guy who is kind of a mystery to me.  I like James Young.  Someone might need to be moved htere to give someone a shot.  They really haven't done much to warrant playing time though. Neither of them.  There are flashes sometimes.

Rozier and Mickey really seem like the two guys who warrant playing time to me in the near to not so near future.

Of the bunch of expirings, obviously Lee wouldn't be resigned, but I don't think Turner or Sully would be either. Prob try to trade them. Or let expire/take their talents elsewhere.

I'd be willing to roll with a Thomas/Smart back court and sell high on Bradley, assuming we get offense and shooting back. Prob package AB with the expirings and a non too 5 pick.

I like Amir and KO best of our bigs. Wouldn't let either go unless it was for a big star. Chowder either.

So I guess I'd roll with IT, Smart, Crowder, Johnson, and KO, and bring in the rookies for some minutes.  Screw it, why not. Trade the rest for the best we can get, and see what happens.
