I think they'll trade the pick. If we get lucky and get #1, Philly will probably be at #2 (because they have the worst record) and a trade should happen.

Celtics trade: #1
Philly trade: #2, Noel

We already know Noel and Okafor don't work together, but Simmons and Okafor would be a dream combination. If Embiid can get healthy they'll be set for bigs for years, but even if he doesn't, they'll still have their starting front court of the future. The celtics get two great pieces that perfectly fit their roster. A scoring wing and a rim-protecting center.

Smart/IT
AB/Hunter
Ingram/Crowder
Sully/Mickey
Noel/KO

That's a pretty good lineup before free agency even starts.
CB Mock Deadline - Minnesota Timberwolves
Kemba Walker / Tyus Jones / Aaron Brooks
Jimmy Butler / Jamal Crawford / Treveon Graham
Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko
KAT / Derrick Favors / Cole Aldrich
Picks - 2018 CHA 1st (Lotto protected), none out

I actually think Simmons and Ingram are pretty interchangeable value wise. So if the C's could get one of those plus Noel I'd be ecstatic.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Danny would be nuts to trade away the #1 pick (and the opportunity to draft Simmons).

Simmons has "franchise-altering" written all over him.  Those guys don't come along every draft.

I think if you were starting a franchise from scrap, Simmons would be a little more valuable. But I think Ingram fits our roster better, and Simmons fits the 76ers roster better. Also I think Noel fits our roster much better than the 76ers.

Yeap. If you get the #1 pick you draft Simmons. He may not be the next Lebron but this kid is the closest thing to a can't miss player.

Agreed.

You don't necessarily worry about roster fit when you're drafting that high.

You take the BPA, which is clearly Simmons, and work the roster around that.  If you're drafting for need/fit that high in the draft, you're more prone to the misfire.

I guarantee you that by the time the draft comes around there will be a strong debate as to who the number one player in this draft is.

Simmons potential isn't anymore franchise altering than Ingram's is, IMO.

People were making the same comments about Okafor at this time last year and he didn't even end up as the top pick. Just because Simmons is the consensus top pick now doesn't mean that will be the case around the draft.

It's not a matter of fit.  Draft the BPA.  Draft/trade for stars/high-potential players and worry about building around those players rather than trying to draft/trade for fit.

Given that we have some decent parts, I would rather draft Simmons. He is ready to play NBA ball at a high level as a rookie.  Ingram is not. He will take a couple of years to grow into his body.

If we end up with the 2 spot I won't be upset with Ingram. The 3 spot seems wide open.

Strong debate?  I don't think so.  I think its going to be a relatively clear consensus that Simmons is going to be the #1 pick.

Feel fairly confident in that too.

I like Ingrams future more than I do Simmons. Simmons is going to be limited by his jumper Ingram just has to gain weight. If we got the number one I would absolutely be willing to trade down for Ingram and Noel(I would prefer Okafor)

Stop being a Debbie downer

Simmons or Ingram will be a Celtic!
