Well it's really hard to say what fair value is. "fair" is hard to find, things are worth what people will pay for them. We got the picks rather cheap. It cost us guys we wanted to move on from and we got so many picks because the nets were moving/ new owners and wanted stars (no matter how old) at any cost. So we got a deal there. Obviously we would want to get more for them in a deal than we gave up. But surely if you can get a legit superstar in their prime for them you do it. You take the sure thing every time. With those picks there are no guarentees that there even will be true superstars in those years, let alone that we would get them, let alone that we would be able to develop and keep them into their prime. So many risks. The odds that one of those picks turns into someone better or as good as LBJ is just astronomically low.

Back to reality, I think those picks will all be offered as they come up, year after year paired with an expiring contract and some assortment of lesser assets for stars. Who knows if anyone will take any of those deals but I expect danny makes them. This year he is probably working the phones on a deal based on Lee and the 2016 nets pick as a starting point for lots of guys(DMC, Gasol, Melo, Howard, KD exc.) Chances are low that we get one, but he will probably offer the 2017 nets pick with Amir or some other expiring max contract for a different set of strs next year, and the 2018 pick for another set of stars the year after. At some point some or all of those picks will be traded for a star.

This idea that we should keep those picks absolutely no matter what is just silly.

Lebron James is still the best all around player in the world.  The team would remaining would have enough other pieces that the Celtics should walk into the Finals (winning the titles is of course more difficult as the Warriors, Spurs, or Thunder would be tough outs).  Given that, you have to make that trade even if he walks in a year.  Boston is no where near a contender and really aside from the 2016 BKN pick, it is unlikely that any of those assets have any shot at even being a player half as good as James is right now.  Aside from the basketball, the Celtics' as an organization would immediately be on television significantly more, James Celtics' jersey would sell like hot cakes, and the overall value of the franchise would increase significantly.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

A single trip to the finals without a ring or possibly one or two trips to the conference finals isn't worth all that to me and I don't like Lebron anyway

No I wouldn't take it, and neither would the Cavs.

Pointless suggestion.

If Lebron will re-sign with us, no-brainer. Unfortunately, there is no way to guarantee that and there is no reason why he would, even if we accept for the sake of this hypothetical that Cleveland is willing.

FYI, we only have 2 NJ 1st round picks. The other pick is our pick, which can be swapped with theirs.

Cleveland won't do it though. They wouldn't give up their chance to get a ring, even if we threw in more 1sts. What is the point of firsts? Their value is how they help you build a team. Cleveland already has that. Also, by obtaining Lebron, we immediate decrease the value of our personal 1st round picks (if we were to throw in some more to sweeten the deal).

I would do it even if he would leave next year. Think about it, with our youth, defense, and coaching we'd run through the East no problem. Put Smart, Bradley, Crowder, and Amir around Lebron, and that's as lethal of a defensive unit as he's ever had. Put IT, Bradley, Crowder, and KO around Lebron and let him penetrate and kick, and that's as good of an offense as you'll see in the Eastern Conference.

Hell, given our defense and our decent matchup against Golden State, I say our team with Lebron has just as good of a chance as any other team in the league right now at knocking off the Warriors.

It's amazing just how much difference Lebron would make if we had him. Though I will say, he'd be an absolute perfect fit on our team given our philosophy and the range of excellent defenders we could surround him with, especially because outside of IT we have no other ball-dominant players.
If he came here, he would be on one of the least talented teams that he has played on. I can't see how it is worth it for one year of playoff excitement that looks very unlikely to result in a ring.

Multiple years, obvious move for me. One year, not worth it because the team isn't good enough.

well arn't you nice! The point of it all was not to make a realistic tradt, it was to show that if the best player in the world was giftwrapped and given to us for picks most fans here would suggest it. The point is so I can know whos opinions to disregard in other threads.

Replace LBJ with whomever you want, half the board would still say no. Thats the point.
