Idea #1:

TO BOS: Marvin Williams, future 2nd round pick

TO CHA: Jerebko, Zeller

Idea #1 got me thinking about...

Idea #2:

TO BOS: Jefferson, Williams

TO CHA: Lee, Jerebko, Zeller, Min 1st, two 2nds (non-PHI & preferably 2 of our least valued 2nd rounders)

Getting Big Al back would be a great move--considering we'd be trading 3 players who are either not getting enough minutes, or are not part of our long term future--for Jefferson who could come back from injury (out 6 weeks) and help the Celtics come playoff time. Depending on how good he plays we would likely consider signing him in the offseason (depending on our other roster moves)

After thinking about trade idea #2, I began to wonder if CHA would really consider moving Jefferson considering how effective he's been for them since he signed there. Also, would they be comfortable with both Zellers manning the C position?

The above thoughts led me to...

Trade Idea #3:

TO BOS: Jefferson, Williams, Price (waived or given no minutes)
TO CHA: Chandler, Jerebko, future 2nd rounder
TO PHO: Lee, Zeller, Min 1st, future 2nd rounder

Charlotte gets a good Center in Chandler who is a great rebounder and can run the pick and roll with Kemba. Trading for Tyson saves them the trouble of having to find another starting caliber C in free agency if Jefferson doesn't work out.

I would actually like to see Chandler in green, but I wouldn't want to make a long term commitment to him just yet. I'd prefer to go into the offseason with enough flexibility to trade for Cousins. If we can't get a significant upgrade over Jefferson via trade we should sign him.

Are we giving up enough? We have our 1st or the Dallas 1st that we could swap in place of the Min 1st IF NEED BE...

Thoughts???

Sounds similar to my trade proposal of trading Lee and Zeller for Big Al.  Remember, Big Al is out until AT LEAST February 15th with knee surgery.  He is also one more pot violation from a 10-game suspension!!  In other words, Charlotte should NOT expect MUCH for him right now!!!

Trade 2 seems like too much to give up for Jefferson, but I like trade 3, though one would wonder why the Celtics wouldn't just directly pursue Chandler since he'd help solve the issue of interior defense.

Edit: sorry, missed that you addressed that very point.

Honestly none of these trade work for the Celtics besides maybe the 1st one and that's just for a future 2nd.

Jefferson we might as well just go after in free agency unless we can do a trade straight with just the players you put involving no picks.  Because I'm not giving up that kind of draft picks on a rental of Jefferson.

The third trade is just bad, we lose a draft pick and get Jefferson for a 1st again.
