put in black and white it seems danny played his hand like a card shark-zeller ,turner, isaiah crowder, jerebko for nothing add draftees sully, olynck, avery, marcus, rozier,rj and mickey and all those draft picks as well as nets decline-
forgot to mention brad stevens under contract for 6yrs pulled out of college
the teardown from pierce ,garnett, green ,rondo and bass couldn't have been played better
the fans didn't suffer for long and to the depths some other francises have faced
This is very true. It's been an easy transition. The first year was rough. Last year was very good (24-12) once Rondo and Green were converted into better fits.
Basically, we only had to suffer for a year and a half.
It's impossible to complain.
Danny was a genius. He may not come close to Red Auerbach's greatness, but the divide between those two gm's may not be as wide as perhaps assumed.
Having a seasoned vet in Amir Johnson has helped a lot. That was a good move.
Danny proved himself by not only getting Ray and KG, but how he filled out the rest of the 2008 roster. I hate to sound like a homer, but that was the best team by far of that mini-era. It had a very small window, three years which was stretched out too long, imho.
I don't always agree with Danny, but it can't be denied he won a lot of small trades last year that added up to good value.
He may hit the jackpot with Brooklyn.
Back then it didn't seem assured the Nets would fall this low. I am not sure if Danny is lucky or great. I thought he should have resigned Posey and Tony Allen later on or maybe Tony had already decided the team was hurting his career.
It fell apart. Yet, even so, we still almost made it with Rasheed in the Finals and Shaq. That was a bittersweet era. Its roots were easily pulled out. This new team Ainge and Stevens are cooking up seems to have been re-potted much better.
I also didn't like the Perk trade for Jeff Green. On paper, it was good. Yet, it's better to ride it out with proven champions. Ainge might have overthought that one.
The big what if is what if KG didn't blow out his knee. I suppose getting to watch him and Paul carry us to the top in 2008 made it all worth it.
But yes, this new team has an excellent foundation and is fun to watch for the most part. There will be ups and downs. There is something unique to basketball with terms such as chemistry, the hot hand, player development, momentum... I guess that pretty much sums up where this team is. It has a very bright future and we are lucky to be Boston Celtics fans.
