I love Markieff Morris. I don't know what Phoenix would want but his trade value is pretty low these days so I don't think their asking price would be a problem.

PF: Markieff Morris
 C: Skal Labissiere

That would be an awesome big man combo to start next season with. Lots of athleticism and speed. Skilled bigs. Defensive potential.

Skal is really more of a 4 to be honest.  Then again, so is Sullinger but we still see him logging significant minutes there.

I like Skal as a quick 5.

I think Skal has less of an advantage against PFs because PF's quickness neutralizes his speed and Skal hasn't developed enough physically to take smaller PFs inside and punish them in the post. So, I think Skal as more of an advantage as a running high post C.

That is where I like Skal the most.

Well here is your Markieff Morris trade:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=zhhr5a7

Poenix sends: Morris
Boston sends: Sully, JJ

Phoenix does it to rid themselfes of their Morris problem. I do not think they will get a much better offer for a guy everybody knows does not want to be there and playes awfull right now. They can get a good look at Sully and if they do not like him he and JJ can come off the books in the off season. We can throw in a second rounder to sweeten the deal a bit.

Celtics do it because they will get a 4 that has shown that he can play last year and generally has a good contract. He has a bad season but rumor has it that he really wants out of Phoenix, so he probably will play better in another environment. Plus he probably can be dealt to Detroit in the off season for Johnson or Caldwell-Pope ore somebody else.

What about this idea:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=gtw5h7r

Atlanta sends: Schröder, Scott
Boston sends: Sully, ET, Min16

Atlanta does it because they have another backup PG in Mack so it is not to difficult to move on from Schröder (who is getting DNP CD fright now for some reason). Sully is a good rebounder and passer and he might fit well with their 3 main bigs. ET is a swiss army knife and would ad to theit PG depth while adding to their wing depth. If they do not like sully or ET they will have more cap space in the off season (both Schröder and Scott are signed for one more year).

Boston adds to the logjam in the backcourt but Schröder is a true point who still has the chance to be pretty good. He could get ETs minutes and be our second ball handler. While we would miss Sullys rebounding Scott is a better 3-point shooter and the downgrade from Sully to Scott should be worth the upgrade from ET to Schröder. The MIN16 will probably be 2 2nds and will sweeten the deal. Would it be to much if we had to add our own 2016 lottery protected first?

Number 3:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=jardauo

LAC sends: PP
Boston sends: ET, MIN16, one more 2nd

Well this is the bring PP home to the Celtics trade.

Just to save everyone some time, the combined salaries of Lee, Jerebko and Turner is $23,919,190 according to the ESPN Trade Machine.  I think you can start from there and then just work your way backwards.

I love the Hezonja idea. He would be a great target for Ainge.

I'd love to have Hezonja's shooting and scoring punch at the SF position. Crowder would be a great backup (long term) and alternative to Henzonja's offense too.

This is what I've come up with at the moment:

1. Free Hezonja!

Orlando is flush with wing players but they lack point guard depth and their frontcourt is a bit of a mess.  Hezonja is playing a paltry 13 minutes per game off the bench and lacks a clear path to more playing time with Fournier and Harris in front.

Boston has too much depth (redundant bench-caliber talent) in the frontcourt and desperately lacks shooting and potential on the wing.  Recent draft pick Terry Rozier is dominating the D-League but has no clear path to a rotation spot in Boston.

Orlando sends Nicholson, Frye, and Hezonja

Boston sends Sullinger, Johnson, and Rozier plus BOS 2016 1st, DAL 2016 1st

The Celtics add talent / potential plus shooting and size on the wing in Hezonja.  They also avoid taking a long term cap space gamble on Jared Sullinger, an upcoming restricted free agent.  They take on Andrew Nicholson, also an upcoming FA, who has less talent and potential but is a safer bet if they choose to sign him to a multiyear deal.

The Magic add a veteran big man who Coach Skiles will probably love.  Amir might thrive playing beside Vucevic, or he might succeed coming off the bench.  Sullinger gives the Magic a quality rebounder and decent defender to bring off the bench.  Rozier could compete with Shabazz Napier for the backup point guard spot, and maybe even win the starting spot from Elfrid Payton if his jumpshot proves reliable and he shows he can run the offense.

The Magic also pick up two 1st round picks, at least one of which might end up in the late lottery, and dump Channing Frye's contract.

2. Send Us The Rooster

Boston sends David Lee, James Young, and DAL 2016 1st

Denver sends Danilo Gallinari and Randy Foye

This one is pretty simple.  The Celts use Lee's expiring contract to make salary work and send the Nuggets an athletic wing prospect that could thrive in a fast-paced high scoring system, along with a draft pick likely to fall in the middle of the 1st round.

In return, the Nuggets send out 27 year old Gallinari, a productive swing forward scorer / shooter who doesn't really fit the team's current timeline due to his age, picking up some decent future assets and clearing cap space.

It's a bit of a gamble for the Celts since who knows what Young's upside is or where that Mavs pick will ultimately fall. Danilo also has a troubling history of injuries.  On the other hand, Danilo offers the Celts a lot of things they currently lack, particularly a player with good size and excellent scoring and floor spacing ability for his position.

3. At Least Let's Get A Shooter

Boston sends Jonas Jerebko + 2nd (just pick one of the many 2016 2nds other than PHI)

Minnesota sends Kevin Martin

Jerebko has been a nice role player for the Celts, but he's better as a big man than as a wing, and the Celts have too many of those at the moment.  What the Celts need is a wing who can shoot and get to the line.  Kevin Martin fits the bill, though he's on the older side now.

The T-Wolves dump a guy who isn't even in their rotation right now because they have younger players who need minutes and pick up a psuedo-expiring contract and a 2nd rounder in return.  If they want, they can keep Jerebko around for another year.

I like the first two ideas

HOU receives: Morris, Anderson, Lee, 2016 1st from Boston (BOS or DAL, whichever is lower)

NOP receives: Sullinger, Tucker

PHX receives: Brewer, Young

BOS receives: Howard, Thornton
Mike

(My name is not Mike)

I don't have three, but I have one.

Boston Receives: McCullom, Vonleh
Portland Receives:Bradley, Sullinger, Min 16, Boston 16

Boston gets another legit scorer who can play both guard positions. McCullom-Thomas-Smart with Rozier, Hunter, and Turner backing them up is a dangerous backcourt. They also get Vonleh as a project big man who fits the bill as a talented, athletic big man that desperately needs to develop under a good coach.

Portland gets a defensive-minded guard to pair with the defensively inept Lillard. They also get a rebounding center who is fairly talented. Sullinger gives a post up presence to the Blazers, something they do not have on their roster right now (even though they had two last year in Matthews and Aldridge). Mostly, this allows them to sell high on McCullom, getting several solid players and 1st rounders in return.

Utah bottoms out after an injury plagued season to add more talent to their young team. They restock with picks and young talent. They continue to play guys like Hood, Burke and Whitey big minutes to develop.

2. The Boston Native
--
Nerlens Noel and Jerami Grant to Boston

Jared Sullinger, Terry Rozier, James Young, 2016 Boston 1st, 2018 Nets 1st, 2016 Philly 2nd

The process is failing. Philly rebuilds trust with fans by acquiring a big that can play next to Okafor and young guards that could actually develop into NBA players rather than pay D-Leaguers to lose. They get nice 2016 and 2018 draft picks for giving up Noel.

Boston cashes in on young picks and talent to acquire the rare and magical "Rim-Protector".

3. The Big Iffy
--
Markeiff Morris to Boston

Jared Sullinger, Tyler Zeller, Jonas Jerbko to Phoenix

Phoenix gets the bird rights to 3 bigs for a half a season try out and dumps their trouble maker.

Boston consolidates bigs and clears the front court log jam.

How many 4 team trades have happened in the history of the league?

The Lillard / McCollum pairing is one of the best stories of the season so far and probably the main reason to still feel good if you're a Blazers fan.  Perhaps problematic defensively, but it's hard to see the Blazers breaking those two up.

He's really good.  I would absolutely love him but I don't think they give him up.  I think Bradley and Sullinger could win a couple games too for our Nets pick.  We would probably have to throw in a couple more picks or something. 6'4", 21.1 PPG scoring 24 year old dudes don't exactly grow on trees.

I tentatively agree. Long-term, I wonder how those two fit, but it has been good for them this season.

I think he might become available eventually because of his fit next to Lillard and his trade value , but he probably isn't available yet. I hope Danny is on the phone with the Blazers GM every day until they sign McCullom to an extension.

This makes more sense if you include the Suns in the trade so that the Blazers get two starters:

Celtics Receive: McCullom, Vonleh
Blazers Receive: Morris, Bradley, Minny 16
Suns Receive: Sullinger, Celtics 16

But, that's not allowed on this thread. :)

I changed my mind, let's make all 3 work at once.

1. Bring in Brad's Golden Boy
--
Gordon Hayward, Trevor Booker, Raul Nato to Boston

David Lee, Terry Rozier, Evan Turner, 2016 Dallas 1st, 2018 Boston 1st, 2016 Philly 2nd, and 2017 Los Angels 2nd to Utah

3. The Big Iffy
--
Markeiff Morris to Boston

Tyler Zeller, Jonas Jerbko, 2016 Cleveland 2nd, and 2019 Detroit 2nd to Phoenix

Celtics Depth Chart after trades:

Smart/Bradley/Hayward/Johnson/Noel
Thomas/Hunter/Crowder/Morris/Olynyk
Pressey (sign)/Thornton (after contract is up)/Grant/Holmes (sign)/Mickey

Still have:

2016 Nets 1st, Dallas 2nd, Miami 2nd

Draft Ingram and Payton III sell the other pick ;D
