http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/14459203/eric-bledsoe-phoenix-suns-miss-rest-season

Bledsoe tore his left knee's miniscus and had surgery.  After initial reports said that he would be back in 6-8 weeks, now he will miss the rest of the season.

This is the first real threat to our Nets' pick, Wayne Ellington's nonsense notwithstanding.  This is after they fired their two assistant coaches the other day.  They played the Cavs close last night (101 - 97) and didn't fire their head coach who probably feels he has to win to keep his job, but the fact that this injury is now keeping Bledsoe out for the season seems to signal a tank job.

Here are some articles on this surgery from around the web:

1.) http://www.howardluksmd.com/meniscal-tear-recovery-surgery/

In general,  young, healthy active people with no evidence of osteoarthritis will experience a more rapid recovery.  Typically measured in days or a few weeks.   Most people are off crutches in a day, and stop taking pain medicine within a day or two.   In contrast, if you are a older, heavier and have arthritis as well as a meniscus tear, then  you may take longer to recover — and may not experience a “full” recovery. This group can take weeks to months to improve.

Bledsoe is a 26 year old professional athlete. He is 6'1", 194 lbs.  Hmmmmmmmm.  Let's see, does he have arthritis or multiple surgeries on that knee?  A Google search doesn't turn anything up about arthritis, but has he had surgery on that knee before?

2.) http://www.nba.com/clippers/news/bledsoe-injury-update-111209.html

This is from 2011:Los Angeles Clippers guard Eric Bledsoe underwent surgery to repair a torn lateral meniscus in his right knee on October 7th. He is expected to be sidelined approximately 6-8 weeks.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Benton Emblom at the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama. Bledsoe has been cleared to take part in hydro-cardio therapy and strength work and he is expected to increase his workload by the beginning of the regular season.

So he tore his other knee and it only took 6-8 weeks?

The meniscus can either be removed or repaired, the 6-8 weeks is if he got it removed, which is worse in the long run. Him being out all season shows that he got it repaired which has a substantially longer recovery time. Last time he tore his knee he was out for a number of months, so that second article might not be as accurate.

Ah ok, TP.  It says in the article that it got repaired, so I guess I'm being overly paranoid!

Hornacek is trying to save his job.  McDonough might also be feeling the heat.  I don't expect this team tanks purposefully.  Management wants this team to pull around -- despite this bad news, they're only 3 games out of the playoffs.

The suns might now be a bit less talented, but maybe now they are a bit more balanced team.

They should trade Tyson Chandler and move Alex Len into the starting lineup. They have already lost Bledsoe. They are going to lose Markieff Morris for 50c on the dollar. This is no longer a win-now team. They should trade Tyson Chandler who hasn't helped them much at all ... and give young Alex Len big minutes and the opportunity to show what he can do.

Suns are a mess. McDonough learned under Danny so we must assume he is very pragmatic and that means he will make some trades for the future (sell some veterans to gather some picks and/or young players) and tank hard to get high pick. In one month the Nets will look like contenders compared to the Suns, so there goes your top 3 pick...

The Suns will have to be just as bad as the nets to get there

They'll have a long way to go.
