C's have lost to 2 of 3 worst teams in the league. Almost lost to Philly. They want to be a playoff team and play down to their opponent?

Actually, the Cs lost to the Lakers, who lost to Philly, so I guess, in a way, the Cs have lost to Philly this year.  :P

Silver lining, there's no real reason to root against the lakers this year.  When the nets lose and the lakers win, it's technically a good day.  I doubt Brooklyn can finish with a worst record than the lakers this year, but you never know... If the young talent on the lakers mutiny against their imaginary coach, they might be able to rattle off some wins.   There's a 45% chance the lakers lose their pick to Philly if the season ended today.  If they fall (rise?) to 3rd to last, the odds sway against them.   It would be pretty funny if they lost their pick.

it's a no-win situation.  if the Lakers keep their pick, well, that sucks because they get a top prospect.  if they lose their pick, Philly gets another top prospect which is probably worse since that will also include having to listen to the Hinkie fanboys claim getting that pick was a core piece of Hinkie's plan and therefore that plan is successful

Well clearly that pick is an important asset to Philly or they wouldn't have traded Michael Carter Williams for it.  They will either get it this year or have the lakers unprotected pick next year.  Unless you anticipate the lakers making the playoffs next year, Philly is getting a top 10 pick one way or the other.   And if it doesn't end up a lotto pick next year, you might as well consider it a doomsday scenario, because it probably means the lakers landed Ben Simmons and signed kevin Durant.

Best case scenario, lakers lose the pick this year.  Otherwise, they could trade their top 3 pick on draft day for a star and lure a superstar like Durant.  If Lakers lose their pick this year, it's going to hurt them in a few ways.

The good news is that this loss hopefully gets the C's from reading their press clippings, and leads to a couple of convincing wins against the Nets.

Also if the Lakers' setback in their rebuild came at the cost of Philly getting a lottery pick, so be it. I prefer the Lakers suffering over the Sixers suffering.

What's frustrating isn't necessarily the loss but the manner of it. Players just looked like they weren't trying hard today and the defense in particular was non-existent for three quarters. Despite all the blowouts we've suffered through, this was the first time I walked away from the game thinking we didn't try.

Agreed.  Also, it will boost the Lakers confidence for their next 2 games (home vs. Sixers and Suns).  Catch those Nets!

I'm more worried about the nets catching the Suns than I'm optimistic about the lakers catching the nets

can someone tell me how we lost to the Lakers???

Doc Rivers wore a Brad Stevens mask and coached the Celtics tonight. There's no other way of explaining it. I mean, Brad Stevens surely isn't that stupid to play James Young over Marcus Smart of even RJ Hunter. There's no way he is that dumb.

Bad coaching and Lakers hot shooting was what did it tonight.

Apparently, Smart missed the shootaround with a flat tire, which is why Stevens restricted his minutes. It doesn't make sense to me to restrict minutes based on something he can't control, so I think he probably just slept in on accident or something.

He still should've put RJ in there over Young, though. It was almost as soon as Young came in that they went on a run.
If I remember right when Young came out they only had a 4 point lead. I still agree with you though, the feel of the game at the point LA was just oozing with confidence. Who was that unit anyway of ours? Lee, Kelly, Young I think?!

It felt like from that timeout and on we were done. They started doing whatever they wanted. Weird coaching tonight.
