  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Let's say we somehow land the #1 pick.
We've beaten the odds..finally.

The Bulls call and ask if we'd take Jimmy Butler for the #1 pick +RJ Hunter+David Lee+Jerebko

Is he a top 10 player now given his impact on both ends?
He's a top 15 player that's for sure.

Would you trade the #1 pick (Ben Simmons) for Jimmy Butler?

21.4 points, 5 rebounds, 3.3 assists on 45.5% shooting and 33% from three.
Perennial candidate for the All Defensive team too.
26 years old.
Since becoming a starter for the Bulls he's averaged 72 games a year.

Nope. I'd trade a top 5 pick for J.Butler but not the #1.

Of course not.  Not for Simmons or Ingram at this rate

For any other pick, yes

seems that some people are just trade happy.

We cannot afford to trade that Brooklyn pick. As long as there is a chance of landing Simmons you keep that pick. Unless you are offered Anthony Davis.

Care to explain your reasoning? Just curious.

I'd consider it. There's no such thing as a sure thing in the draft—Simmons could end up a bust for all we know. Whereas Butler is a proven commodity who's still quite young.
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

I do not consider Jimmy Butler to be a franchise player. I think J.Butler is an All-Star but not a franchise guy. I think Ben Simmons (#1) can be a franchise player. I think a top 5 pick is fair for a young All-Star talent. But for that #1, I want an MVP caliber player.

No way would you take Butler over the potential of Big Ben.

Jimmy had his chance Even Mark Whalberg tried to recruit him to Boston. You had your chance Jimmy!

I agree, but I'd roll the dice right now that the C's pick will be at best #3, and would trade it tomorrow for Butler.   Butler would be a differnence maker on this team.  I think we'd be 1 piece away after getting Butler (dpending on who else we gave).

He was restricted and the Bulls came out and offered him the max immediately....so he really had no choice in the matter.

That isn't true he could have said no. But its a business first so I don't blame him for taking the $. Just aren't giving up a 1-5 range pick for him to escape chicago now lol

Well it is pretty much true. His only other option would be to

1) demand a trade
2) sign the $4 million qualifying offer for one year and then become an unrestricted free agent this season....if he did this he'd be turning down a $95 million extension opportunity just so he could change teams/cities.

$91 million difference between the two deals and a looooooong 82 game season of career-ruining injury potential even more importantly.

Yes, yes, and yes.

Proven, tough, and durable All Star.

Plus he fills a need.

Of course, I would.
