According to Yahoo Sports, the Rockets are engaging in trade talks to move Ty Lawson.

Yeah, a bit surprising, but in hindsight, a guy like Avery Bradley would be a MUCH better fit - great defender, very good shooter, and doesn't need the ball to be effective. Lawson is a pass-first PG and is totally unnecessary when Harden has the ball so often.

No way for Nets to match salaries unless they trade Young, which would just create another void.  Jack is owed money next year, so Houston wouldn't be interested, and Nets would need to send another $6 mil over unless they want to wind up in the tax to still miss the playoffs.

It does suck because that's one more team Dallas can move up on in what was supposed to be a loaded West. Memphis, NO, Houston, and even Sacramento and Phoenix have disappointed.

Houston is such a mess. I think it supports that having players that are too ball dominant (Harden) will never lead to championships. You need stars to win a championship but if you think back to all the past champs..the best players are also unselfish...Curry, Duncan, Parker, Lebron, Dirk, KG, Pierce, Even Kobe too an extent when he was under the Triangle offense...I dont think Harden will ever win a championship due to his playing style. I also think that is why the Thunder haven't won since Westbrook is also too ball dominant.  If you were to replace Westbrook with someone like a prime Tony Parker I think they would have won a chip by now.

Ty Lawson + Terrence Jones for Thaddeus Young + maybe Shane Larkin (depending on his injury status).

Brooklyn get T.Jones to replace Thad Young. An upgrade at PG. Houston gets a more consistent option at PF who is comfortable starting or coming off the bench as a 6th man (once Motiejunas returns).

I don't think so.  Three non-basketball reasons:

1) Young can't be traded until January 15th.  I'm fairly sure Houston wants Lawson out ASAP.
2) Such a deal would push Brookyln over the luxury tax by a million or so (and that's including Larkin -- Young alone doesn't make enough to match Lawson and Jones).  Doesn't make sense since Brookyln still misses the playoffs.
3) Houston wants to keep themselves in the game for Durant.  Taking on $12 million in salary next year (Young) doesn't help that goal.

Depends on how badly Houston wants to move him, but Brewer or Ariza and Lawson for Joe Johnson actually works and would free up some more long term money for Houston.  Other players could be involved as well if needed.

Fairly certain Houston is hard-capped, so they can only take about $1.4 million more than they send out.  Johnson makes $24.9, while Lawson and Brewer make $20.6.  Houston would need to send about $2.8 million more out.  I guess KJ McDaniels might be of interest to Brookyln.
