He's going to be a great player.
I've watched him a little this year.
It's almost like the posts right themselves.
I'd guess I've watched him more than you have. The thing about 19 year olds is... they tend to show improvement. Anyone who wrote him off after 10 games is a fool.
He had 23 points, 3 assists on the 9th. 24 points, 6 assists, 6 rebounds, 2 steals on the 11th. Tonight he has 19 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals.
Will be interesting to see how he looks next month. So far this month, he's averaging 15.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.5 steals with 39%/34%/73% shooting. He's 19 years old.
Compare that to our best asset, Marcus Smart, who is 21 years old, injured, and averaging 9.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.8 steals with 33%/24%/69% shooting.
Yeah, I'd take Russell over him no doubt. I liked him more in College too.
Russell: 19.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5 assists, 1.6 steals with 45%/41%/76%
Smart: 15.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 3 steals with 40%/29%/78%
I'm slightly biased towards players who can shoot, though. That's just me. No doubt Smart is vastly better defensively, but I'm worried about Smart's ceiling. He's shown very little improvement (arguably worse over the second half of last yaer). And I think if he keeps up this level of play for the season, his trade value is going to take a nose dive. Russell's ceiling looks far higher right now.
