I wasn't angry with the non-timeout as much as I was angry with the Celtics going to IT instead of ET at the end of regulation and the 1st OT. Think about it. IT was covered by Livingston, a long and pesky defender, while ET was covered by Curry, who is almost Harden-bad on defense. ET not only would have torn through Curry like a wet sheet of paper, but he would have had a free lane with Green having 5 fouls and not wanting to foul out. More importantly Turner has a better instinct to pass than Thomas does so a play could have been made.

I agree. I'm fine with riding it out with IT in critical moments, to an extent because he's often the primary reason we are competitive from an offensive standpoint. But his pull-up 3 was just a poor decision (maybe motivated by some selfishness), and after that, I would've preferred either:

 a) a play drawn up for Turner to close it out in OT, or
 b) IT to drive and kick rather than pull-up.

Particularly (b) if Kelly was open from the wing (which he looked to be on my stream, but it was very laggy. Can any one confirm if he was open at the 3 point line? If so, that's a pretty major mistake. We wouldn't have had a chance to steal that game tonight with KO.

This game just shows that we are really just one go-to guy away from being really, really good.

We have the system, the mentality, the defense. We just need that talent who can close games when we need it. Isaiah can be that dude, but sometimes his lack of size makes it too hard for him to be that guy.

Great game. I'm back to rooting for the Warriors again tomorrow.

Celtics need a superstar go-to at the 3 and an all-star caliber rebounder/defender/decent scorer with some size at the 5. Good to go.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I've been pacing for the last 45 min so I don't know what people have been saying about end of game/end of 1st OT.  Am I the only one that was screaming "call a TO!!!" in both of those situations with tie game and time for last shot???

Uhhh, not at all. I was SCREAMING it. This one is on Brad, no question. We have no PP, Lebron, or Curry, so we HAVE to set up a play there. Otherwise, you get those two crappy possessions with IT forcing crap.

I totally agree about the coaching, pretty inexcusable, but overall you sort of have to be proud of what these guys just did, right?

lol I don't undestand why people are hung up about not calling a time out.
They know the plays off by heart and Brad gave them the signal to run the pick and pop/roll for IT. The reason IT got the ball instead of Turner is because incase the Warriors swarmed/ICE'd the ball handler on the perimeter then IT's got a much better shot at drawing a foul or hitting the shot- despite his size disadvantage. The other major factor here is IT's ball handling ability vs Evan Turnover's occasional errors under ICE pressure.

15 seconds earlier IT burned his defender and got to the hole for an easy layup to tie the game at 103 all.

No one even came to set a pick on Livingston on the final shot of regulation and KO (for some reason) decided to run into the paint and clog it up just as IT was about to attempt a drive.

He then got a GREAT look on the final shot of OT and just didn't give it enough sauce. You'll notice Stevens telling everyone to get the *#%! out of the paint (Kelly basically standing at half way this time lol) so IT could get the shot off against less help.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the end of it. Sometimes it doesn't work out as hoped, but if you can get the last shot with the ball in the hands of your best player taking that shot then you can't ask for much more.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

Read that last line again. One more time.
