Agreed. Hood was a below average bench player last season. He is not good enough (yet) to crack Boston's rotation. I don't think Hood would any wins to Boston's W-L record.

He is definitely an ABOVE average SG THIS year!!  He is 9th for SG's  in ESPN's real plus minus overall and he is 27th in defensive RPM for SG's this year.  He was a SUPERB defender at Duke.  He simply IS a very solid defender!!!

Said it on draft night and I still think about it. Rather have him than Young.

Absolutely agreed then and agree NOW:-)

I still think Young could be a better player in the long run. But even I'm starting to sour on him a bit.

Still, idk if I agree with this notion that Rodney Hood wouldn't crack our rotation right now. Injuries will continue to happen and we have a place for a good shooter with size who can at the wing. Jerebko really shouldn't be getting any minutes at the 3. Crowder has played well but is really inconsistent shooting, and part of Turner's value is that he can play 1, 2 and 3. I don't think he'd play a big role unless he really started knocking down shots all the time but I think he could find a role here.

Looks pretty dumb now, but I proposed a trade of Bradley and the 28th pick for the 12th pick and Hood at draft time last year. Though I think I was assuming one of Winslow, Johnson, WCS or Turner would be there at that spot.

I've barely seen Hood play but I went with none for the simple fact that having more average depth on this team wont help unless we have a crazy amount of injuries. We need all-star talent.

I must be much higher on Hood than others.  He's got the potential to be a good (not great) starter on a good team. He's started every game this season for the Jazz.

He'd definitely be in our rotation, taking many of Turner's and Jerebko's minutes. Young hasn't shown close to the NBA skills that Hood had. Young may get there, but that doesn't mean you downplay what Hood has accomplished as a second-year player.

I agree with Roy.  A relatively polished shooter with size who can play at either wing spot would definitely get minutes on this team.

I dunno how many wins that'd be worth, but probably a couple, at least.

Yeah, you could argue he'd even start over Crowder.

Roy,

Hood reminds me of Sefolosha with the potential for much more offense.  Hood is a good 3-point shooter and that will come around this year.  It is more their size and defense that seem similar to me.  Sef was a good starter on a very good OKC team for 5+ years.  He knew his role and played it well and still does. just more off the bench now for the Hawks.  Both Sef and Hood seem to be very heady players and are both about team!!

Completely agree with this assessment. Young has done nothing to show he's anything but an Ainge draft miss at this point.

Hood has.

Started this a while back. Fair to say the people that voted 0 would be wrong.

6'8" athlete than can swing to the two and three and score twenty or thirty for you would help thus team win. Much more than Young anyway.

Robin Hood would be a better addition.

Amazing shooting skills.

No doubt he currently is producing better than Young. But I'm not even sure he cracks our rotation! Who does he take minutes from when we are healthy? Thomas, Bradley, Crowder are the starters. Smart, Thomas and Jerebko take up the reserve minutes. Who drops out for Hood?

On top of that the comparison is a little off. Would I rather have Hezonja or Oladipo? That's the age gap between young and hood. Clearly right now Oladipo has the higher production but a lot of people think Hezonja can be THE guy on a contender. Point is it's too early to tell.

Since you mentioned it, Oladipo all day and it's not even close  ;D

And most people would agree with you! What I meant is there is potential there for Hezonja to be the better player at the same age. Much the same with Young over Hood. It depends on what direction your team is going in at the time. For us we were looking long term with that pick, not for immediate contribution
