He is not a leader.

He doesn't bring players together ... which is strange to me because Cousins has the skill-set on both ends of the floor to make players better. You can see periods of teamwork from him. Not sustained though. Still too self-involved.

Needs to play for a great coach. Someone Cousins can respect. Who can teach him the game from more of a team point of view. Like a Phil Jackson or a Larry Brown. Cousins needs someone strong like that. To guide him.

His attitude was worse than his typical game, but Cousins consistently gets frustrated VERY easily.  And unlike some elite players, his frustration makes him play worse, forcing more plays and complaining constantly.  He's in a bad organization but he wasn't any different when he played for a great college organization in Kentucky.  I don't think that attitude will change much if and when he winds up on a different team.

Lebron plays harder after he complains.  Cousins quits on the team and does stupid things on the court for several plays after he complains.

This sums it up. The difference between a dog and a complainer is that a dog stops trying and lets his team lose. The NBA is full of good, valuable players who complain like whiny little girls when they think they were wronged... but then try their hardest not to give the ref any excuse next time. Cousins (and Rondo, unfortunately) seem to respond either by giving up or by saying "FINE, REF- YOU WANT TO BLOW THE WHISTLE, I'LL GIVE YOU SOMETHING TO BLOW YOUR WHISTLE ABOUT"

Agreed. Mentally he is Antoine Walker 2.0.   Too talented with no direction for the first 5 years. I wonder if you can ever change his mentality at this point.  The same thing will happen to all the Philly Young guys if they don't get out of there.
2025 Fantasy Draft Philadelphia 76ers:
PG: Rajon Rondo '11-'12;  WestBrook; Wall
SG: James Harden '18-'19 Marcus Smart
SF: Andrei Kirilenko '05-'06; Peja Stojakovic
PF: Anthony Davis '17-'18;   Kevin Love, Griffin
C: Amare Stoudemire '04-'05;   Marcus Camby

I haven't seen much of him, but based on last night, I'm pretty unimpressed. Forgetting this attitude, David (no D) Lee ate him up in the second quarter. Hell, he even blocked his shot, all this while playing him man on man.
Add that to the chucking up 3's and I was underwhelmed to say the least.

He's a fantastic talent, but he reminds me of the old version of Zach Randolph -- when the game isn't going his way, he'll simply implode.

I'm not going to base my opinions on Cousins after his actions in one game in Mexico City... If this guy is available, you do what you can to get him. Period.

I think the sample size is much larger than one game.

Does any player complain more to the refs than Cousins?
His attitude just sucks so bad. Such a whiney **** bag.

OP is right, he's a freakin dog.
I do not want this guy on our team or in our locker room. Some people never change and he's one of those spoiled athletes who thinks he's god's gift to the game.
His behavior is summed up in one word: immature

Yeah. Have you ever watched Lebron James?

Because those two statements above describe him to a T.

Lebron James has been the King of the basketball world for the last 8 years. He can do what he wants because he's Lebron- a proven NBA MVP, hall of famer, NBA champion and legend.
He doesn't quit on plays. He plays both ends and doesn't complain half as much as Cousins.

lol comparing James to Cousins. What exactly has Cousins done to earn the right to whine and complain on more plays than any other NBA player?

Great talent but doesn't have the heart/mental toughness to harness it all into being an all time great.

I think that perhaps the Kings got caught up in putting on a show for the Mexico City fans and lost sight of the fact that this truly was a legitimate game!!

Just think IF you could control that emotion in Cousins!!!  He is already a top 10 player in the league.  He would truly be in a galaxy of his OWN if Brad could control him!!!  I also don't know IF having Rondo as their team's QB is the best fit for DC!!

Did you notice how that DC was pulling RR away from the referees?  Give the man some credit when credit is due.

Smitty77

He already in a Galaxy of his own.

And as much as I'm not a fan of Rondo or his game, he had noting to do with Cousins play during this game. Which was pathetic and childish. His continual moaning, and complaining, his body language, his not running back on D, etc. He's always in some sort of emotional pain throughout the game.

Cousins and his entire thought process need to be evaluated by a professional. Or he will remain a talented looser.

I assume he had an off game last night, because he really was unimpressive. Have not watched him play much the last year or two. Have to be concerns about his maturity.  Would have to think twice before packaging players/picks for the guy who showed up last night. But I'm not going to base a decision on a single game, that would be ridiculous.

To my eyes, the stars are aligning. Sacramento will admit defeat some time after Christmas and start the procedure.

If I were Sacramento, I would be quietly fielding offers already for Cousins and Gay. If Cousins is going to be a winning player, it's not going to be on my team. As a Boston fan, though, I still think that acquiring Cousins at this price (the Nets pick and the Mavs pick, say) is a chance worth taking. A fresh start is a prerequisite for Cousins to turn this around, and games like this ought to crystallize that fact for Sacramento management. A fresh start could be the foundation for a mutually beneficial trade.

Koz called out Horford as a likely free agent target for us. If Cousins were to be acquired, Horford strikes me as the best of all possible players to pair him with for 2016-17, both on the court and off it.

We would be a good spot for DMC becasue we can win games without him. I can understand that he is a cry baby and probably always had things go his way on the court growing up. Being so much bigger than all the other kids probably makes it easy for you to turn into a cry baby when things don't go your way. But consider this, for how much of a mess the Kings have been his whole time there he has never demanded a trade. I'd take the risk.

It was discouraging watching him last night. He was as bad as he could be in every aspect. I'd bet money that group was hungover from the night before. They were atrocious.
