On his recent podcast, he had this to say. Which raises the question, who exactly he was talking about and what he knows? Lowe is obviously very plugged in, so I found this pretty interesting.

Quote
They're an intersting team in this sense. They have so much stuff to trade that they can get themselves an impact player without doing a single bit of damage to their present day roster. That's obvious in some respects, but that's also a rare thing. We have so much stuff that we can, I'm not going to name names because I have some stuff in the works, but we can get someone really good and not give up literally anything of value to our current team.

Probably RJ, Rozier, Young and picks could be given up and not have an impact on the team.

If your post is referring to the someone we can get, I'm not sure. I'm guessing everyone will hope that's Cousins but I doubt it.

Yeah right... impact player...
There are many in the league...
Al jefferson noah gasol lopez could be impact players... but without the nets pick...
If we beat them twice... they will have to win 50% of their games till the end to win 35 games.. not happening

I'd give up a lot of pieces for an impact player, but noone is selling.

Preparing for chaos when Lowe finally "names names."

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

Key words, present day roster.

Know what is not part of the present day roster.  Draft picks.

Plus trade exceptions, and Lowe might be counting players who aren't in the rotation, but yeah, basically draft picks.

Why does he say "we can get someone really good and not give up literally anything of value to our current team. " Is he really a Celtics fan? That never really came through in his writings (although I've not listened to his podcasts).

I think Lee and Zeller for KG and Martin would be a good idea. Lee and Zeller isn't helping us much. KG and Martin would. Wolves get to dump more salary. C's don't lose any picks.

I don't think he is -- I think he was paraphrasing how they must feel?

EDIT: I take it back... doesn't make sense with how he phrased it. Maybe he is a fan.

I thought he was a Celtics fan like Simmons.  Didn't he start out at Celtics Hub?

Lowe was first the head of Celtics Hub before joining Grantland. He is definitely a Celtics fan.

There is literally no chance KG is traded anywhere....

And there is literally no chance of me wanting him back at this stage in his career.

Makes sense. Found an interview for Sloan Conference (here), and it's revealed he's from New England.

He's done a good job not being another Bill Simmons, even if it's nice to find Celtic-centric voices in the blogosphere. Definitely does not write from a fanboy/confessional perspective, which is refreshing.

Either he slipped, or he quoted somebody (likely in the Celtics' FO) and forgot to credit them.

Good catch though.
