I just saw this on another site:
DMC: 44.8% 3P%
Curry: 45.2% 3P%
Now, sample size and volume are different, but who expected DMC to become an elite three-point shooter? Cousin is shooting nearly 4 3-pointers per game, making his outside shot a legitimate weapon.
He looks smooth shooting them, too. I find his handle and agility even more impressive. He's pump faking guys at the three point line and driving into the lane finishing with either hand on either side of the basket. For a 6'11" guy that weighs 275, that's impressive, and I don't know how you stop him.
He's basically becoming a hybrid of Shaq and Dirk - that's scary. I'm not even exaggerating when I say that he has the potential to be the best player in the NBA if he keeps going at this rate.
I mean really - he's elite on offense and on defense (just check last years Defensive RPM - was among the top 5 or 6 in the NBA), he's an elite rebounder, he's one of the best passing bigs in the NBA, he can handle the ball, he's a dominant scorer in the post and in the P&R, he can hit the midrange jumper...and now he's shooting over 40% from three.
I don't think there has ever been a player in NBA history who has been able to make all of those claims. Hakeem is probably the closest, but even he was never a real threat from three.
The scariest part is his putting him his numbers in only 32 MPG! Per 36 he's averaging 31.6 points, 12.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists.
The only stat you can really criticise this year is his FG% (44%) but even that is hard to criticise when he's making two threes (@ 44%) and 8.4 Free Throws (@ 76%) per night. His scoring efficiency (Points Per FGA) is still a ridiculous 1.4, which is elite.
I would also like to point out that the Kings are 4-3 in games that Cousins has played (total margin of +5) and 0-4 in games that he hasn't played (total margin of -50). Just a little fun fact for all those people out there who insist that Cousins doesn't impact his teams wins.
