Not only would I caution people to pump the breaks on R.J. Hunter, since he's yet to actually do anything of note in the NBA, I'd ask the question of what exactly we define as a "steal."
Does a steal mean that he's a future All Star, a future starter, or a nice rotational piece? I ask only because the term has been used very loosely around here in the past and put on guys ranging from Ryan Gomes, to Big Baby, to Leon Powe, to E'Twaun Moore, to Jared Sulliger (to name a few). And while all at least had/have OK NBA careers, none has yet to amount to anything more than a nice rotational piece at best that ultimately was deemed by DA to be pretty expendable.
And yes, Hunter seems to have some savvy and a feel for the game that many youngsters don't, but people said the same thing about Ryan Gomes.
So I ask in all sincerity, what constitutes a "steal." Because a lot of the players that were "steals" for us in the past never really amounted to anything all that significant for us in the long run.
