Bucks poster on Realgm in response to someone who said we have no stars or future other than the draft picks...

"Wait, what? No real future other than those three high lottery picks they'll be getting the next three years? I wish we had their **** future."

Go DA lol

I'm excited about the Nets picks, but even if we get three straight top 5 picks we might not end up with any prospects as good as Giannis or Jabari.  Or a big man as productive as Monroe.

Dont' count your chickens, all I'm saying.

Well with three maybe four lotto picks this year. I would say the future looks bright.

If the standings stay similar to how they are now, I definitely agree.  Two top ten picks and plenty of flexibility next summer for reconstituting a team around Smart plus whoever we take -- that's a good place to be.

Definitely makes it easier to not get too worked up about anything that happens on the court for the Celts this season, because it'll probably ultimately just be a bridge year to next summer when we can hopefully finally get some major long term pieces in place.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

48 bench points on 20 for 34 shooting with IT starting!

Almost 60% shooting

Great 42 minutes of play after a slow first 6 or so minutes.  I'm really happy with this game.  Put up 99 points so far even with IT playing like garbage.  Even better is that we held the Bucks to 83 points on 41% shooting.

Key point here. Even with a bad shooting IT we won by 16. Big. CBS finding those rotations that work

I think IT4 has played poorly since the second half of last game, I thought he had a terrible 3rd Q last game and that's not considering shooting.

Like what I've seen from Hunter.  Fits well in the offense.

It looks like Stevens is using David Lee as a center, basically.  Means Zeller is more or less out of the rotation.

Bummer.  I'd rather give the minutes to the guy who might be here next season, even if he struggles at first.  This is why I was never keen on acquiring Lee.

Zeller expires this year, not entirely convinced that we will be back.

Probably depends on whether anybody else becomes available. But if it's true that we just guaranteed the second year on Johnson, and if Sully and Olynyk keep playing as they have been, then wouldn't surprise me if Zeller doesn't return.

We seem to be heading toward Zeller leaving for nothing.

I think that's a shame, because Zeller showed last season he can be a consistent and reliable contributor as a 20 mpg center in an up-tempo system that allows him to run the floor and gives him plenty of space.

That kind of guy has value in the league.  It's not easy to find competent offensive players at that position who can play solid if unremarkable defense.

Lee is just a one year rental.  Zeller could be a reliable part of the rotation for the foreseeable future.

I thought Zeller was really good when Rondo was around.

Eh, I don't know. Apparently he's our one "true center," but blocks no shots, is a a mediocre defender at best, has no real post game, and actually plays smaller than his height because he has short arms.

I was hoping Stevens would put his butt on the bench this year and I'm pretty happy he did it this early. And if his butt stays there this season, I don't know how many teams will be knocking down his door next year. Being forced to the bench by McHale and Parish he is not.

Good win. Hunter looks like someone to get excited about!

I love his game.  He plays smart and has a beautiful shot.

When you get double teamed often but are still able to quickly get the ball to another player, I can't say you are not playing well.

He was really good in the second half of last year, two.  Plenty of really good games after Rondo was gone.

He just needs space to operate.

Bill Sy had a really good article on the front page describing how Zeller was struggling due to poor spacing with the other bigs on the floor (most notably Lee).

So, are we supposed to design an offense around Zeller?  Johnson and Lee are proven vets and KO and Sully both have much higher upsides.  And it's not like Zeller has just been struggling.  He's been a disaster.  He's got enough seasons under his belt that he should be able to make it work.

I swear, I love the rookies, they have done something every time they get on the floor. Even when their shots don't fall they do other things! Good job so far DA.

Trade Avery Bradley, ASAP.

Only by then we can open playing time for RJ Hunter while being able to accommodate Mahcus and IT4's playing time along with him.

I love me some RJ.

Yeah, can we just trade him and Zeller for a random project center from one of the last couple drafts?  There has to be a trade out there

He has had turnovers, poor shooting, holds the ball too long and his defense makes everyone suck over to help which causes a ripple effect.

No one denies he can put the ball in the hole or pass it but to be blind to other things is weird.

That's all true, but then I think guys like Zeller are also easy enough to replace.  Not all that hard to get a so-so 20 MPG backup center.  Actually we kinda already have one in Olynyk.

I don't mind Zeller's skill set, but I don't think he's talented enough to the point where you sacrifice your wins in order to invest in his future.  If giving his minutes to Lee benefits us more in the win Column, then that's the way I would go.

I see what you mean though.  Zeller is a decent rotation player, and it would be nice to at least get something back for him if we don't keep him.
