Dallas got the right bum. We got left with the wrong bum.

Lee probably could have been more helpful than zeller at this point. I hated lee, and I still feel this way.
Both are horrible basketball players. One was going to complain about ~0 minutes, the other wasnt.

Lee didn't complain. He CLAMORED for minutes. There's a difference. I'd love to have a player with little playing time asking for more minutes than someone who is content to cash his check.

Really? It's getting to the point where Zeller is now just content with cashing his check?

I didnt say that. I just said I rather have someone like Lee who wants to play than a player going through the motions. Although with the way Zeller fights for rebounds it doesnt surprise me if that's the case.

Depends on the lottery I guess. I'd rather have the highest pick which currently we do. It'll be interesting to see if Denver get in on the trades on draft night. We aren't in dissimilar positions, Denver are looking quite like us at the end of last season minus the cameo in the playoffs. They can offer established players like Chandler and Gallinari in a deal or use the picks to obtain an established player. I think they are more likely to start a full rebuild around Mudiay. That puts them in front of us if a team wants to trade a young star for established players. But we are ahead if the team wants youth and picks.

Hard to say.
We have the advantage in our coach. Without Brad this team wouldn't be much to drool over. He just gets so much out of mediocre/average players.

The Nuggets have Jokic as the centerpiece, and although Mudiay has been a turnover machine, he's got All Star all over him.
There are in great shape indeed.
I guess we have the Brooklyn picks and Brad Stevens PLUS established role players that would be more attractive to stars... so we are slightly in front right now in reality.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Don't underestimate Mike Malone's appeal as a coach in Denver. Boogie obviously loved him, and Lebron is a big fan, too.

If we're talking about this lottery, only if they hop above us in the lottery.  They have a chance to do that, but it's not terribly high.  Both the Houston and Portland picks are lotto-protected, so the best they can do with those is 15 and 16.  And if that happens, it's likely our Mavs pick ends up at 12-13, since two of the three playoff spots the Mavs are competing for will have been taken.  As of today, if no one jumps in the lottery, we'd pick 4th, 12/13th, and 21/22.  They're at 8th, 15th, and 17th.  Our spots are much better collectively.

Thinking about things aside from the draft, we have the better team currently, better draft picks in the future, and $25 million more cap space.  Denver's got a chance for a decent future, but I wouldn't switch places.

If they want to go into full rebuild mode they might be a good 3rd team partner in a trade.  I think the Clippers were in discussion at some point sending Griffin there for a package of Faried, Gallilnari, and Chandler.   If they want even more picks we could send them there, will those players going to another team, and the star from the other team coming here.

I don't think they want to go into full rebuild.  They're already in year 3 of being a lottery team and are trending upwards.  No reason to take another step back.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Mavs down 7 at home against the Knicks in the 4th quarter. This one would be a very nice surprise with PHX not being able to beat Milawaukee.

EDIT: Okay, sorry - NY lead now down to 1...

Mike Malone is a very popular coach, but I think Stevens has the edge of 'buzz' around him right  now and is probably more appealing (combined with our roster situation) to potential free agents. Not by much though. A lot of this Denver vs Boston debate won't be settled until we see what happens this draft lottery.

New York is doing everything they can do to give this game away  >:(

I'd venture to say that Dallas' hopes for the playoffs might be gone if they don't win against the Knicks at home.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Too many turnovers, and Wes Matthews + J.J. Barea look like superstars.  And Justin Anderson has made two big plays.
