No. Mickey is a better defender than sully, jerebko and KO. I like the way KO plays D but for rim protection and pnr D Mickey is better now. Also better than Zeller and Lee. Now this said, some of these guys have experience , refs on their side and also are stronger(able to hold position, grab rebounds)

But if you are playing a tight game  and need stops, why would you have sully or Lee out there vs Mickey?
I would have Amir and Mickey out there.

When CBS plays hot potato with the roster from defensive to offensive possession he can bring in mickey for stops.

I think Mickey will eventually be a rotation player, but I think his best position long term is as a small ball 5 (unless he can develop a consistent 3 point shot).

Give him time to bulk up and work on his 3 point shot and then give him the opportunity to get minutes next year.

Realistically there is no way coach Stevens plays Mickey over Sully, Lee, Johnson, Olynyk, or Jerebko. We can only dress 12 players for a given game, if everyone is healthy then the C's would need to make Rozier, Hunter and Young inactive. Since we have way more depth at the bigs than the wings this is unlikely at best.

For him to see any team there would need to be a 3 or 4 for one trade for a superstar or a rash of injuries. Even if there was a rash of injuries I think you would see the C's go small before giving him extended minutes.

Not labeling him a good defensive player just yet. That's too broad considering he weighs 235 lbs and will likely get boofed on in the post by half the bigs in the league. Good weak-side help defender, though... the rest will just take some time.

I think Mickey will getting minutes this season.   Other than conditioning , I see no reason for him to play in Maine .  I believe he is able to handle real NBA game action in a limited role and let him grow though that ...instead of a false sense of accomplishment in the D league

The other reason is the number of bigs on the roster who won't be sent to the D league.

If he is not getting minutes by our first long road trip, he will likely go to Maine. Long road trips usually lack sufficient practices suitable for young guys not getting minutes.
