I like having james young on the floor with RJ, one can handle very well and they both can shot.

So, it looks to be a  pretty big sign to PJIII that he didn't even get into this game.

I'm telling you, he has to be terrible in practice that and/or his attitude. CBS seems to dread putting him in, he is almost always last in or next to last. When our bigs are playing that poorly and you don't insert PJ3, that says a lot to me.

Yup.....that's a ......pretty much ......see ya latter notice by CBS .........not wasting minutes on you during a game.

CBS ...has seen enough of him I suppose ......

We could trade him for Embiid ?

i could not see the game. young scored well in a short time on the court. but how was his defense? did he put out a good effort?

We got an extended look of Hunter and Young playing together in the 4th.

Young looked like a basketball player. He played good D, took good shots, and was generally affecting the game with his athleticism. He only had one bad turnover.

He's still behind RJ Hunter in ball handling and passing, but I think Young's physical presence is really helping him out there.
My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

He looked more IN TUNE with program than usual......I'd say yes......improvement.

I guess he know he is safe and PJIII is on the way out of town.

thanks and a tp for the insights. and let's not forget that young is, well, young. he is almost 2 years younger than hunter.

but good to hear both of them are playing well. it is fun to watch them develop.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
The Knicks looked like they might be better than anticipated. Lopez is a good back end 5, and Melo is an all star when healthy. Their supporting cast looked better than I thought it would tonight.

I'm not sure if I'm the only one that feels like this but Thomas didn't look as good tonight because he wasn't surrounded by shooters. Lee didn't look as good because the offense didn't run through him like it had in other pre-season games.

Through 4 pre season games I would have the rotation as

First unit
Smart/Bradley/Crowder/Lee/Zeller
Second Unit
Thomas/Turner/Jerebko/Johnson/Olynyk

I also wouldn't mind replacing Jerebko with RJ Hunter.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

The knicks looked bad to me, we missed a LOT of easy and open looks tonight and our bigs were bad (big z had a nice little stretch) and they still struggled to beat us. How likely is it that our bigs all play that poorly again? Couldn't rb, defend nor shoot. AB was 2nd in rbs with 8, A **** B and Jae tied for 3rd with 6 (Mickey)... that's sad!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Knicks shot nearly 50% from 3 today, at that point its hard to win. Overall the team looked a bit disjointed today.

Agreed, the Knicks are pretty mediocre.  No Smart at all, no Lee or Crowder in 2nd half, no IT in 4th. Now I understand that Melo and Calderon didn't play much but still.

There's even more to it. The practice players Waldon and Randolph got minutes and they are NOT making the team, why?  That's usually because the team is doing them a favor so they might catch on somewhere else.  PJIII is done.

It is clear to me, we were still evaluating peeps this game, and not playing it to win.

Sully boarded like a machine but most of those came when the game was well over.  He played a lot of " I am the man" and I am going to save the team tonight ball.   He lacks so much lift he was blocked fest machine and saved us by shooting 1-8.   I think the Knicks commentators saw his weight as a joke.  Seraphim for the Knicks looked heavy too.

I thought the Knicks out toughed us tonight with their thug play.

I saw it differently, I thought they did the same thing Cleveland did to him.    They put length on him and it bothered him some on his outside shot.   They banged people who went inside, sometimes fouling hard.  This kind of game is the way to play him.   It makes it harder for him to get to the rim and when he does he pays for it.

Young actually looked decent.

Too many TOs killed us.

Jerebko looked better guarding Melo than Hunter ever would have.  He has several nice stops on him.   Hunter is a keeper though.

Sully not getting any love here, but I think he's played aggressively and I like that he seems to know he's got to fight for minutes.   Interesting to watch him and Mickey together.
He was 1-8 from the field, maybe your unaware of that, but the idea is to put the ball in the hole?   Also swatted twice and lack elevation.  At least he has a bright future as a before model for weight loss stuff?

this was the second game in a row our bigs, as a whole, didn't play particularly well.  Last game it was pretty much Amir doing well.  this game, I'd give it to Amir and Mickey in his limited minutes.

tonight's take-aways:
- I originally thought the Knicks were a longshot to make the playoffs then revised my expectations downward based on their roster.  After tonight, I think they could get to 10th in the conference and not look horrible doing so.
- feeling my fanboy attitude towards Amir is being justified with each game
- liking Hunter and Mickey more and more with each game
- Young is definitely showing improvement.  should be putting to rest the catcalls around here to release him in favor of keeping PJIII
- Been a fan of O'Quinn since his rookie year in Orlando.  looking like a great pickup for the Knicks.
- C's showed why they're not a lock to be a top playoff contender this year.  Too inconsistant and no 2-way star that can carry the team at the end of a game.  C's will be a tough team for anyone to play if for no other reason than the talent doesn't really drop off from starters to bench.  C's will be in a lot of dogfight games this year.
- Liked the C's didn't back down when the Knicks tried to get tough.  good sign
