Rondo: "Not going too well" with Karl (Joke)

I think Rondo was joking personally.  The Kings have been doing very well in preseason.

Even if Rondo is joking, it just goes further into showing how unaware he has become.  The dude got booted off of a team during the playoffs b/c his coach could not stand him, and to joke about his relationship with coaches at this point would show that he really has not learned a thing from that experience.  Either way, it's not a good look.

What does it matter?  Is the quote going to somehow make Karl think "[dang], maybe I haven't been getting along with him this whole time!"?

No.  All he's doing is trolling the media, which he's always done and doesn't really matter in the big picture.  Rondo's proved his whole career that he doesn't care what the media or people in general think about him, he's not gonna start caring now

If so, he should reconsider that mindset since it's cost him millions.

Has it, though?  He's getting $9.5 million this year, and I don't think being friendlier with the media would have changed that

Not the media per-say, but you mentioned "people in general", which would include decision makers across the league. He's getting 9.5M on a 1 year deal, which is not even Amir Johnson type money, when he was supposed to be looking for a max money multi-year deal in a free agent year devoid of marquee talent.

I think we can blame it on using a term knowing what it means but not understanding it's origin (i.e. that it's latin).

It is like how I often used to say, "Play it by year," without even thinking about what the origin of the phrase was, which I was of course saying wrong in a really silly way.

I get that, but would you say he's underpaid given the way he's played since his ACL injury?  I think continuing to play the "I'm just misunderstood" card helped to cover up his actual decline in play somewhat

There's a reason he's playing on a 1-year contract, and the fact that he kept generating negative press is certainly a part of it.

But does it have more to do with it than his poor play since the injury?  I wouldn't want to commit multiple years at big money to him after playing the way he did, attitude issues or not

That's one thing I can say about Rondo, that's not really his thing blabbing to the press. I remember when Ray left and there was words flying from Ray, Doc, Kg/PP but Rondo didn't say a thing negative so I don't think he would start talking now.
