Very interesting to read his take on how important character is when selecting players, even if it means chosing less talented players. It seems to be the approach CBS and Ainge have been using as well.

I liked the emphasis on humor, especially self-deprecating humor, as a good indicator of character in a team setting.  Seems like the kind of non-obvious thing people like Popovich pick up on.

I was thinking the same thing. It's not the first thing I would've thought of, even though when I think about the people I want to surround myself in life, it's people who are able to be self deprecating and have a sense of humor.

Very interesting read. Thanks for sharing. Two observations:
1) I think Brad and Pop have a very similar coaching philosophy. Obviously they handle their outward emotions a bit different, but I definitely see a lot of what this article is discussing in Brad, which is good news for our team's future.
2) I think Smart is a very good example of the type of character Pop is talking about here, and I also think that Bradley, Rozier, Lee, Amir, Crowder, and Hunter are also good examples of high character guys that display the kind of character that Brad wants in his players.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Very inspiring interview
