At this point I dont believe they can catch the nuggets, new orleans, sacto, or the knicks for wins.
According to my predictions - Final Record: 19-63

Allowing for unexpected wins/upsets of 2-3 games: 22-60

Current Worst Teams
30th Philly
29th Lakers
28th Phoenix
27th Brooklyn
26th Minnesota

Current Scenario: 27th - 11.9% chance at 1st pick - 37.8% chance at top 3 pick
Best Case Scenario: 29th - 19.9% chance at 1st pick - 55.8% chance at top 3 pick
Worst Case Scenario: 26th - 8.8% chance at 1st pick - 29.1% chance at top 3 pick

TP, though I think they'll be closer to 21-24 wins than 19-22.  But what gets missed as we worry about Phoenix and Minnesota is that everyone else has stepped it up enough that a top 5 spot (pre-lotto) is pretty much guaranteed.

That's a darn good return with a swap and a pick to go, even though we're dreaming of better.

Yup, as I said on the post above, the time between now and March 15 on this roadie is what will determine where we pick. They play some pretty soft teams in that stretch, and then the rest of the way it gets really rough for them.

I agree that it is terrific that pretty much our worst case is 5th in the lottery. Great spot  to be in. If they bomb out on this roadie and only grab 1 or 2 wins though, 2nd or 3rd in the lottery is on the cards.

I think there is a good chance they have at least 60 losses and the 4th worst record when it's all said and done.

Second game of a back to back and the lakers havent been their usual horribad selves lately. My worries are teams like Washington who look ok one night and look like a dumpster fire the next or a team like Orlando with soft interior D against lopez.

I'm looking at tankathon.com. Maybe the mods should lock this thread. The story is over. Only Minnesota can catch Brooklyn. That was a great loss for us. If you can't win them all, it's best to lose to the team that might steal ping pong balls from our top rated lottery slot.

Phoenix, Philly and the Lakers should be sanctioned for tanking. If there is any justice in this world, we are winning the lottery.

Worst case scenario and unlikely seems to be we get pick #8, but that's stretching it. In all likelihood we are getting a top five pick. We currently have a 37.8% chance of a top three pick and 11.9% for the top pick. Maybe the only thing left to watch out for is Phoenix versus Brooklyn.

I was just kidding with the above, so please don't report me to the mods.

Maybe a miracle will happen and the Suns will beat the Nets.

It can happen. It can.

I was really hoping for a top 3 pick but I'll still be happy with a top 5 pick. Even if Brooklyn ends up with the 4th worst record, we will still have better lottery odds than the year we tanked to get Smart.

That we are getting a better pick from Brooklyn than we got from the year we tanked (at least in the second half) is pretty amazing. Hopefully we can get some good luck in the lottery this year.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz

We're either getting lucky and end up in the top two or three or a bit less lucky with a Marcus Smart position. That's true. #6 at worst. Not a bad consolation prize.

I followed this. I watched a couple, lucky frustrating Brooklyn wins against other teams and our losses to them. Danny should have made an appearance and told the guys we need to beat the Nets. That would have been my move as GM.

In my mind, the Nets deserve to be 11-46 instead of 15-42. I'm a bit disappointed, but not much. Maybe Brooklyn will run the anti-win table. Keep the thread going.

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
And all this is happening with "Mr Glass" Brook Lopez playing in every single game.  And Thad Young and Johnson to boot.  Things have broken very well for us considering their 2 and arguably 3 best players aren't missing any time.  Now if only we had swept them and that JJ  hadn't banked in that fluky buzzer beater against Denver...

I wish that tankathon listed the current odds for getting a top 5 pick.
