I'm official terrified of the Suns. Don't see the Nets out sucking them.
I agree. The Suns also have a stretch of tough games coming up. I feel we have a better chance of the Sixers passing the Nets then the Suns staying in front of the Nets in wins.
I definitely think the 6ers will outplay the Nets for the remainder of the season I just dont think it will be enough.

Hopefully Minny can improve down the stretch and maybe if Phoenix deals someone like Morris at the deadline chemistry will improve and they could go on a little run because there is some decent talent there.

All things considered you would have to be really happy with top 4 lottery odds without having to tank at all.

That gives you a 25% chance at a top 2 pick.

Now the 3 slot gives you a 39% chance so hopefully we can hang onto it, but Id be happy at 4.

Looks like the Nets will be battling the Twolves to determine the 4th and 5th seeds in the draft.

Perhaps.  But one injury to Brook Lopez or Thadeus Young and the Nets will be hard pressed to win many more games.  So, you never know.

Wow the Suns have no shame! Thank goodness the Nets lost - didn't see that coming. The Lakers barely losing to the Mavericks really stings-- that would have been sweet!

Let's pray the 76ers keep winning and the Nets somehow stay above PHO in terms of having a worse record so the Nets finish 2nd worst (this isn't likely but I'll try being optimistic).

We really need the Nets to win *AT MOST* one more before the All Star Break for this to be possible, and obviously, hopefully zero. FINGERS CROSSED!

P.S. Praying Anthony Davis can play vs. the Nets this weekend...

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Suns didn't have Brandon Knight tonight either which is an enormous piece for them in these 50/50 games vs bottom feeders.

He's back in 3 or 4 games and thankfully their schedule is tough for the next 2-3 games so it doesn't matter either way.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Mathematically, it is going to be very, very tough for the 76ers to overcome a 5-6 game deficit versus Brooklyn in the next 36 games. I don't see that happening.

The plus side is that, with every game, it gets incrementally more difficult for the Nets to catch the teams ahead of them.

We will be really lucky if the Nets finish in the bottom 5.

And yes, teams that have kept their draft pick and have no chance of entering the playoffs will tank...

Disagree. I can definitely see the Nets rising to 5, but who else is going to get down that far? Nuggets and Pelicans look too resilient to me, unless Anthony Davis were to be shut down or something.

I agree, though if AD suffers even a fairly minor injury they might just shut him down.

This is the way I see it. Nets should be bottom 5. We'd be lucky if they end up bottom 3, but it's reasonable to expect bottom 5.

Anthony Davis has about 23 million reasons to not shut it down for the season too.

He still gets paid if he doesn't play.  Unless there are some crazy performance bonuses in there.

He needs All-NBA for the "Rose Rule" kicker

Essentially, there are performance benefits. Due to the insanity of the Rose Rule, Davis (after missing out on starting in the All Star Game) must make an All NBA Team to qualify for the Rose Rule. So, shutting it down for the season would cost him $23 million.

Gotcha - I remember people discussing that now.  Makes sense.  TP for the info.

Yeah, when Davis' deal was reported this offseason it was actually just assumed that he would qualify for the Rose Rule, but no one saw Davis' regression/Kobe's move to the frontcourt happening.

I didn't realize the Rose Rule required you to *start* the All-Star game.  Thought getting on the team was enough.

That's dumb.
