Still worried about Minny lol?
http://www.cbssports.com/nba/gametracker/boxscore/NBA_20160117_PHO@MIN

Absolutely, and I'm even more worried about Phoenix.
Minnesota could be in the playoffs and y'all would still be worried.

Oh gee, how dare I be worried that the 13-29 Timberwolves, who are 1.5 games better than the Nets thanks to their win today, might catch the Nets! I'm just an overly cautious worry wart aren't I?

But seriously, kudos to the Timberwolves for blowing out one of the worst teams in the league at home. That 13th win really should put my worries to sleep.
I guess we'll see buddy! Prepare the crow that you will be eating at the end of the year when Minny has a better record than the Nets.

The question was not, "Do you think Minnesota will catch Brooklyn?". It was actually, "Are you still worried about Minnesota catching Brooklyn?" There's a very distinct difference between those two questions. Am I worried that Minnesota will catch Brooklyn? Yes. Do I think they will? I don't know. I can't tell the future, but that doesn't mean it aint close. 1.5 games is pretty close to each other if you ask me. 1.5 games is what's keeping the Celtics from getting the 5th seed in the east right now. And hey, I'll be just as happy as anyone else is if the Timberwolves get themselves together and go on a streak, but as of late they've looked pretty darn awful. One game does not change that.

More importantly, even if Minnesota does have a better record than Brooklyn, that doesn't automatically mean the Nets will get us the better pick. The lottery is very unpredictable.
Look, I can't cure your anxiety. You will need to see a doctor for that. All I can tell you is that there is no way Brooklyn will have a better record than Minnesota. And the lottery has nothing to do with it, as that is up to purely chance and doesn't reflect the team's actual record. If a team like Orlando barely misses the playoffs and then wins the lottery, it doesn't mean that you should have been worrying about Orlando all along. That is pure luck.

So if Minny finishes with a better record than Brooklyn but then wins the lottery, that doesn't prove your point. They would still be the better team, they would have just gotten lucky.
CB Mock Deadline - Minnesota Timberwolves
Kemba Walker / Tyus Jones / Aaron Brooks
Jimmy Butler / Jamal Crawford / Treveon Graham
Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko
KAT / Derrick Favors / Cole Aldrich
Picks - 2018 CHA 1st (Lotto protected), none out

White flag is up for the Cavs, starters benched for the 4th quarter. They'll be well rested and also angry. Good... good.

All I'm saying is I answered your question when you were falsely accusing me of something else. You made the claim that I would eat crow for saying that Minnesota would catch Brooklyn when in fact I never said that. You asked if I was worried, and I said yes because it's close. Am I losing sleep over it? Nope. This is just a game. It is still something that I keep in mind because no matter how much you try to twist it, Minnesota and Brooklyn are 2 games apart. That's a pretty close gap. If you're right, then good for you, and I [dang] well want you to be right, but since the gap is again, very close between the two, Imma hold my breath on what happens until, well, it happens.

I appreciate that. I guess worried may not be the right word. Just something I'm keeping in mind. I absolutely want the Wolves to win and even thought for a while they could.

TP because we're all on the same team.

Honestly I hate watching the C's lose a close game, but Brooklyn losses have been great for my mood.

Based on ESPN projections the eight seed in the East will have 44 wins. Nets would need to go 33 and 7 to get there. A less than a 1 in a 1000 chance, but some apparently believe it's still possible.

For the rest of us, some teams near the bottom are playing better and only the Suns and TWolves look like contenders to edge the Nets out of the third worst record. The Nuggets, Bucks, Kings, Pelicans, and Blazers are all projected to have 30+ wins now and have been playing better.

Yep.  It's pretty clearly a 4 team race for 2-5.  Lakers, Nets, Suns, Minny.  The Pelicans have some very winnable home games over the next 5 so I think they will separate themselves from this group in the next week.

I get as nervous as the next guy about the Nets passing some of these teams, but what I keep reminding myself is that what we are all after is the 1st or 2nd pick.  After that, it doesn't look like we'll get that franchise cornerstone.  So, we need lotto luck anyway.  And, the seeding between 2 and 5 only changes the odds.  I understand they change the odds in a big way, but still ... we are going to need lotto luck to win a top 2 pick.  And, you never know how that's going to end up.
