wonder if the Nets are motivated to play harder because they know their first round pick belongs to a division rival.
i am not sure why nets players would sit there during a game and think, "i will try harder and bust my butt since the celtics have our draft pick!"

they will play hard because they want to win and for pride, or they won't. that would seem to be the more probable explanation in this case.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

So glad that I fell asleep before the game started last night. I probably would have pulled out all my hair by the end.

TRADE EVERYTHING FOR BOOGIE! All the Nets picks, Smart, whatever it takes.

Yeah, thought about that, then I remembered this:

Brooklyn plays Golden State tomorrow.  1-10.

As much as they probably should have lost to the Rockets (who lost to Denver tonight - who here would have picked Denver to have a better record than the Rockets through 9 games?), you can't ask for better than a 1-10 start to Brooklyn's season.

Not me. I actually had Denver as being worse than Brooklyn. I'd love to see them win a few more. Assuming they're any good, I'm down to Philly, LA and Portland. I think NO eventually pulls out of its funk.

Mike

Portland has looked pretty solid this year at times.  They won't be in the running for the bottom.

As bad ad the Lakers have looked, they've lost 2 winnable games and have 2 rookies starting, a 2nd year player starting, and Kobe either not playing or shaking off rust.  I am not convinced they'll be in the bottom 3 unless they continue to lose at the current rate for the next 20 games and decide to tank.  Remember, LA only gets the pick if top 3 and that is no guarantee even if they finish worst (fortunatley their pick is not tradeable until the lottery is over).  I think if they smell any success they'll keep the pedal depressed -- they know they'll be best off showing promising youth when they hit the FA market.  Sadly, Lakers will always end up OK.  But it could work out well for the Nets pick if LA can just pull off a few early wins.  .500 may get an 8th seed this year in the West.

Players are never invested in tanking, their main interest is always to play hard and earn better contracts. It's the GM who primarily can influence tanking, followed by the coach. There is no reason any of the Lakers players would ever think let's lose this game so that we can get a better pick. The younger guys want to put up stats, get noticed, and earn a big contract. The vets want to get noticed and traded to a contender. Kobe in his last season has no reason to go out there just to tank. No coach wants to tarnish their career win-loss record by tanking either, unless they have some long term guarantee from the GM, which is very rare.

The Sixers tanked because the GM put out an NBDL level roster the last few seasons. This season with Okafor and Noel both out there, they already look much better. Once they have Wroten and Marshall back, they will win a few games, thats what decent players do. Same goes for the Lakers, they have enough talent on their to win now and then with Kobe, Randall, Hibbert, and Russell.

Agree. I know we're only 10% of the way through the season, but it does look like a 3-way race this year.

Splash Bro #2 aka. Luigi is out today. Any chance Brook wins? Used the word Brook because that is the entirety of their team.

They need Curry but they should manage okay without Klay. I don't mean for the important games but for teams like BKN.

Everyone jinxed BKN for their lone victory already, I can't make it worse.  ;D
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

speaking of their lone victory, the Rockets still look really awful and continue to lose to poor teams

Ok, we're halfway through the first. Time to start playing now, guys.

any team the nets beat go on my "poop list". The rockets are in inaugural members. I hope GSW dont join the rockets; its a rather exclusive club.
