Despite all the naysayers, Sully will start alongside a versatile defender in Amir. Lee will mesh well with Thomas off the bench. KO and Zeller get the 4th big minutes depending on the night.

But there's no question that Sully will start. Either because he is the best or to build trade value. I believe it to be the former.

Zeller and AJ are starting.

9/29 Add:11 man rotation
Zeller/KO
AJ/Lee/Sully
Turner/Crowder/Jerekbo
AB
IT/Smart

Turner and Smart will get added minutes at SG letting Jerekbo and Crowder get more time in at backup SF. Sully and AJ may put in light minutes at the 5 depending on matchups. But all 5 bigs will play regularly.

Mickey, Rozier, Young, Hunter are DL unless there is an injury.
PJ3 is cut unless there is a trade.

I kind of expect us to showcase Sully early, but think David Lee starts eventually.

This is KO's year--he's actually the guy with the best chance of becoming an efficient 18-a-game scorer. Just needs to shoot more and foul less.

Amir and Lee.

That's the starting frontcourt this year, for better or for worse.

There is a chance Brad tailors the starting lineup game to game.

That would be nice! I'd like to see him consistently foul less against the second strings before I trust him in my starting line up though. Who would you pair him with? Amir for the defensive versatility?

Smart/Bradley/Crowder/KO or Sully/Johnson

I'm not there in practice so I can't really tell how in or out of shape Sully is, or how much KO's progressed but that's who I want to earn the other starting big spot next to Amir.

I think having KO in that group helps cover his deficiencies with Johnson protecting the paint, and helps their's with KO's ability to shoot, drive and pass. He can be enough of a playmaker to help Smart just enough to justify not starting Turner if he's playing his best. I think he can be a 16/8/3 kinda guy on 38% from deep if it all clicks for him.

Of course I woulda loved to see Sully show up in a little bit better of shape, but he did lose a little weight and if can manage to keep the pounds from racking up during the season I think he can be a 16/10 guy who gets us some decent value back in a trade package if he plays well. So, naturally the PF spot is a bit of a mystery, but that's part of the reason for the heavy competition. Whoever seperates themselves as the best player will play big minutes.

Zeller and Amir when the C's are going big, and to start the game.

With Amir in the game Zeller can continue to develop his game facing the basket. Amir can defend and rebound well enough to let this happen.

I voted Kelly and Amir. I originally thought it would be Sully and Amir but then I saw the pictures of Sully on media day and he really hasn't lost the weight I thought he did.

Kelly and Amir will space the floor beautifully. I also like playing one young guy with one vet because I believe it helps with the development of the young player.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

  • Puns of steel
Zeller (C)
Amir (PF)
Turner (SF)
Bradley (SG)
Smart (PG)

Hit 'em in the face with defense and run them ragged with pace. Turner will be switched out for Crowder when Smart shows that he's ready to run the team. Then, smack the second team around with offense with KO, Lee, Sully and IT.

This strategy really plays to our strength as a young deep team.

My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

Sully will start. He has the potential to be the best player in the frontcourt. Also, he showed his value in the playoffs when he came in and played tough down low when KO and Zeller just couldn't. Those two still can't. They just don't have the ability to be tough down low ayers like Amir and Sully.

So I say it's Amir and Sully starting with Zeller and Lee coming off the bench with KO getting minutes when someone gets hurt or Stevens needs a stretch four to hit shots because the team has fallen behind big and needs offense. KO will definitely have a role but his role will be in the most flux and depend on the most variables whereas Amir, Sully starting and Zeller, Lee coming of the bench will be sure things.

Now if Sully shows he can't play 30 MPG or starts adding weight on during the season, that changes  everything. Then we could see Zeller and Amir starting with Lee, KO and Sully rotating off the bench depending upon need and matchups.

No matter what the combo, if all five players stay healthy, expect at least one to be traded early in the season. Ainge won't wait for the trading deadline to deal one. He will get trades done early to get the best value.

I think Mickey is definitely someone Ainge wants on this team in the future, more so than many of the five guys in from of him. So I expect a trade early so time can be given to Mickey as th fifth forward and have him start his development.

Interesting...

Picked up the new 2k16 last night, started a season with the C's an had no idea how I wanted to play my bigs... Ended up with Lee at PF and Sully at C, Amir first big off the bench followed by KO. Brad is going to have a hell of a time getting everyone minutes.

I think it's definitely Johnson and Sullinger. I'm more interested in who is stuck on the deep bench, because it seems like a real possibility that we don't have any minutes for Tyler Zeller.

I'm also interested in who's going to be gone mid-season. I'm pretty comfortable with the idea that Perry Jones is the odd man out right now, but Zeller, Sullinger, or Olynyk is going to be gone mid-season.
