The best two who earn it. Be it Sully or anyone else. Sully is the worst defensive big though therefore I would play him with Amir for the coverage with Amir shooting the threes and Sully down low on offense. KO and Zeller with Lee perhaps because Lee is good inside and Zeller can hit the mid range and KO the perimeter.
Sully looks poised for the showcase. If he can jump out to a 20/10 pace, and we get some luck in Brooklyn, we could have the makings of a very strong trade-deadline package for Cousins.
This is very possible the showcase, but I doubt he makes the 20/10 pace.
I'm no big Sully fan (which is probably obvious by now!) but Sully ins't actually thattt bad defensively.
I think he has good defensive IQ (as in, he knows where he is supposed to be and when) and I think he uses his mass, physicality and decent wingspan well when defending in the paint.
The big limitation for him is is conditioning, because you can plainly see that his defensive
consistency is not there from one play to the next. First 2 minutes on the court he'll play some great defense, then the next 3 or 4 minutes he's jogging back on D, missing rotations, etc.
If he gets his conditioning much improved (and that's a big 'IF'- I'm still not convinced) then I think he can be a pretty good below-the-rim defender. Kind of like David West has been.
Even now I feel like Sully plays good defense, but the problem is he does it in spurts, not consistently.
If he can just get down to 260 pounds and stay there, while also living a wee bit less on the perimeter, then he could be an All-Star. The 20/10 potential is not out of the realm of possibility.
As far as showcasing, I don't think there is any need to be honest. Boston has primary bigs on their roster, and if i'm not mistaken only one of those (Olynyk) has a guaranteed contract for next season. That means every single one of those bigs is a potential trade piece, and hence has potential to be showcased.
The main ones would be Sully, Zeller and Johnson.
1) Sully averaged 18/10/3/1/1 per 36 last year
2) Zeller averaged 18/10/3/1/0.5 per 36 last year along with 55% FG and 82% FT
3) Amir Johnson is a potential $12m expiring next year, and is loved around the league
All three of those guys have the potential to be valuable trade chips.
Lee is probably less valuable to us as a trade asset, and more valuable as either an expiring contract ($15M instant cap space), or as a productive veteran leader/mentor if we can re-sign him on a modest contract.
Olynyk has still got another year on his rookie deal and is an advanced statistics beast, so he's probably more valuable on our active roster than he is as any form of asset.
