I don't know how anyone can say that KO hasn't developed. You are obviously not watching the games. Very few big men can handle to ball, pass, and create their own shot like he can. KO is a very valuable asset and if he's traded Danny had better get something good back in return. I don't think they should trade him though.

It actually sounds more like he's been bracing for a trade for several months.  Which isn't good for those hoping he'll be traded tomorrow or those hoping he sticks around and develops more confidence.

Could change topic heading to trade instead of deal perhaps?

Interesting little bite there.
Thought he was trying to be funny and then read the full quote.
God I hope we do trade him.

Why do you hope we trade him?

I just don't think he's got the heart/mentality to be a starting forward in the NBA. Just can't ever see him getting much better.
Just a personal opinion.

Fair enough.  You're certainly not alone on that.

I happen to think he is a better fit as a starting center than at power forward.  Again, despite the numbers backing me up on this, I know I'm not going to get much agreement from the majority of the fan base on that opinion.

Well, if Mickey can develop into a defensive powerhouse, then you may be onto something. KO certainly has the tools and I was actually a little bummed about the Lee trade as he will likely get little chance to showcase those tools this year.

Everyone is talking about how Kelly's minutes are going to take a big hit this year.  I am guessing that assumes he will be fighting for most of his minutes at power forward.

If his primary position is center, as it was last season, there should be more minutes available for him.  He's basically going to be competing with Tyler Zeller for most of those minutes.  Amir will probably get some minutes at center, but I'm assuming he plays the majority of them at power forward.

I would actually love to see a starting lineup of Amir at PF and Kelly at center with Sully and Zeller as the primary backups and David Lee as the fifth big.

Probably a pipe dream, though.

I wouldn't say its a pipe dream but it depends on how much Lee has left in the tank. I think it's more likely that Olynyk or Zeller wind up the 5th big in the rotation. I also think that Stevens is going to use all 5 of those guys interchangeably at thr 4-5 position (except Zeller will be the center in any of those combinations).

The nice thing that a potential Amir/Olynyk combination has is that they can both stretch the floor. So I don't think it's out of the question that we'll see them together.

But then that leaves Mickey out entirely and scuttles the possibility of hanging on to PJ3 and using him as a stretch 4. God, there needs to be a trade or two made before the season starts.

But I think that's what Olynyk is feeling with that comment. There are a lot of guys on this roster who play his position and a lot of trade rumors and that's been the case for as long as he's been in the league. I bet that gets tiring fast.

I'm kind of hoping you are wrong, but must admit I am feeling similarly, especially after last season, when he just seems to lack passion, confidence.  Seems to be under-performing his capabilities.

Sorry, I don't get that vibe at all.  As jammed as the PF position is you got to think about your future with the team, but I don't see any telling sign of "who" that guy will be.

Life without Phil Pressey is hard for him. I'm kind of glad Pressey is gone, Olynyk needs to adjust to putting his focus all on the game. I feel good about that too.

So, if you count Zeller and Amir as centers, and also taking into consideration that Amir is really a PF, the C's have Kelly, Sully, Mickey, JJ, and Lee as Power forwards. Knowing Sully and Lee will most likely see the lions share of the minutes.

Yeah, I would be concerned too, especially if I had Kelly's confidence.

I see nothing in this. Dudes just making a joke and cherishing his Canadian roots.

If that's your mindset, then you'd be sorely disappointed by what Ainge would get in return if he traded KO by himself for something.  Teams do not consider Olynyk "a very valuable asset."  You're heavily overrating him.  How's his defense, how's his rebounding?

Olynyk needs to hit the weight room, cut his hair, take a Larry Bird pill, stop the pump fakes---and Play-!
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

Meh, dude is talking in generalities about life in the NBA. No need to read between the lines. One always has to be prepared to get traded because that's the reality of the NBA period, even more so when he was part of two years of constant roster turnover.
Yup, plus the question was probably not about the Boston Celtics, but about playing for Team Canada, and how that is different from playing in the NBA.

Context matters...

I'm pretty sure no one on this board knows how KO is valued around the league.
