Who really cares about Jonathan Holmes? He couldn't play on our team. He played well in summer league. Let's see how that translates to the NBA. He doesn't have a very high ceiling.
Sorry but no big loss. Good luck to him.

I bet you called Draymond Green will be a great player..  nothing peraonal but the kid has a unique skillset,. The hate isnt necessary .., he represented our  summer league team rather well.

It will translate.   6'10 guy , 245 pounds, that can guard multiple positions, loves to bang downlow and can hit the 3 pt shot at a decent rate.   Knows where to be on the court, how to play

Lakers got a steal.

Exactly (just read this after i posted).. draymond green anyone??

Well, Holmes is not quite as skilled as Green.   Just average to a tad below avg in the passing department.  But he is bigger. I was impressed with his ability to defend 3 , 4 , 5. Also PNR D was good.   When he was free he rarely missed the three.  Decent ball handling skills

I agree with your assessment.  What i was trying to say  was he has the talent and skillset to be a good player in this league.  not necessarily  the next Draymond Green.

There goes out Kevin Durant  ::)
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Ah darn it.

I'm really happy he's getting a chance on an NBA team, but man, the Lakers is probably the last team I'd like for him to sign.

This sucks and this is great for me at the same time. I've been a fan of his, but now I will have to root against that jersey he's going to wear.

Happy for JH.  Sad it wasn't us who can give him a shot.

My question is, will there ever be a chance he'll start over Randle? Fit wise, it makes total sense.

I'd rather give Holmes $300k (or whatever a significant partial guarantee is) to attend camp than give $25k to Malcolm Miller, who has zero shot.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Holmes would of been a suitable replacement for Jerebko. Cheaper also

Definitely, but I think Danny wants the to operate above the cap so as strange as it sounds, he is probably happier with JJ's contract than the minimum he would have given Holmes.

You know, Danny really did not have to get Amir, Lee or Jerebko.

Our team would of been just fine with KO, Sully, Zeller, Mickey and Holmes going into next season.   Cheaper also

Amir , Lee, Jerebko while good players are not going to take this team to the next level . These are the type of players you add for a championship run.

Hindsight post!

It's not like Danny was going to count on an undrafted rookie over proven NBA players. Nor should he.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

Yes, but if you were Holmes, would you rather get your $300k from the Celtics, who don't have the space to keep you unless you beat out two guys on guaranteed deals, or from the Lakers, for whom you'd be the 15th player with even a partial guarantee?  It's not like the Celtics had some sort of rights to him -- he was a free agent.
